DUBAI (Reuters) - Al Qaeda called on non-Muslims especially in the United States to convert to Islam and abandon their 'misguided' ways or else suffer, according to a video tape posted on a Web site on Saturday.
The speaker was identified as Azzam the American, also known as Adam Yahiye Gadahn -- an Islamic convert from California wanted for questioning by the FBI and who U.S. authorities believe to be involved in an information campaign for al Qaeda.
"To Americans and the rest of Christendom we say, either repent (your) misguided ways and enter into the light of truth or keep your poison to yourself and suffer the consequences in this world and the next," Gadahn said in English.
He appeared in the video dressed in a white turban and seated in front of a computer and books.
Al Qaeda's second-in-command Ayman al-Zawhari made a brief statement at the beginning of the tape -- dated September 2006 -- urging viewers to listen carefully to the message, entitled: "An Invitation to Islam".
imagine the reaction of the Left!
Hell, they don't even want people PRACTICING their faith publically, let alone suggesting (not even demanding) that others join them.
Let's listen for the outcry from the Left against THIS latest Islamo-fascist "invitation".
And let's hear Muslim Americans denouncing the tape, repudiating forced conversions, and proclaiming their belief in the freedom of religion as the best system for the USA and, indeed, for the whole world.
Cue the chorus of crickets, please!

That's going to be a tough sell since they will have to blow themselves up brazillions of times before they get it right.
Actually the Left has commented through the entertainment media. Margaret Attwood's The Handmaid's Tale is a well written, highly praised work which indicts evangelical Christianity in fable the way we indict the fact of Islamic Fascism. There are many lesser efforts, usually in the realm of made for TV movies that portray Evangelicals inthis fascistic authoritarian image.
One quibble I have with your post is that bin Laden and his cohorts are not akin to the Pope or the President of the Latter Day Saints, or the Archbishop of Canterbury. And there are a few in the Christian world who have threatened fire and brimstone to those who do not accept Jesus Christ, and who see misfortunes and disasters as signs of God's displeasure. The difference I see is that they do not seek to implement God's wrath themselves unlike bin Laden and the Mullahs who see themselves as the instruments of Allah.
