What was God THINKING! He should have given you a megaphone when you were telling this to Eve!

And less prone to earthquakes.

I stopped worrying about earthquakes when they gave us a 'volcano emergency kit' at school. : )

Sour apple = cooking ?

I have found though if I use a sweet dessert apple for either stewed or applesauce recipes the flesh does not cook well maybe it is only certain varities that that happens with and I have been unlucky

You met the DC chapter of FR,did you meet Kristinn and TSgTakoma?

There was someone there named Kris, but I don't know if that was her using a nickname or someone else. TSgTakoma sounds very familiar. I think she was there. I would have walked around more, but my feet were pretty sore so I pretty much sat at one corner. I remember Apple Blossom and Mr. and Mrs. Troop Rally, and of course, Just A Nobody and maica.

I had heard of that recipe; don't think I ever saved it, but it's posted on the web. I'm not sure how many men voted on the title.

First recipe

With coconut

Another version, this one with German chocolate cake and butterscotch ice cream topping, etc., drizzled into holes atop the cake

If you enjoy sweet I bet you'll love the sweet version of cornbread even with the kernels of corn in it. The non sweet version is a southern thing.

I LOVE Yorkshire pudding, but haven't had it in years.

I know my mom left something out when she gave me the recipe, she always does.

Sounds like Marie on "Everybody Loves Raymond." Did you see the episode where she agreed to give Debra a recipe, I think for meatballs, and she gave her the seasonings -- but put something else, I think it was tarragon, inside the basil bottle?

The tagline change was because of a thread I was on where a poster was lamenting that he wanted the blue colour back for Republicans and did not like it that it been switched to red.

In Britain the Conservative Party is blue so I did that for an answer to him and as yet I have not deleted that part.

Most of my mother's favorite recipes went to the grave with her. She used The Joy of Cooking, but her best recipes were in her head, and I rarely saw her measure anything. She had THE BEST soup recipe that I tried for years to duplicate and finally gave up. This doesn't sound like it would be that good but it was awesome. It was some combination of barley (I LOVE barley in soup), dried peas, and other little dried foods -- it's been so many years since I had it that I can't recall much about it any more -- with browned ground beef, chunked up, browned, and drained. I tried using those dried soup ingredients that come in clear plastic rolls; none of them came close.

I take your word about the sweet and kernels of corn maybe I will try that but I did not dislike the other version in fact I think I would prefer that with meat rather than the sweet. It reminded me of cake which seemed strange if it was sweet it would even more resemble cake.

I will definitely make it again even if I am the only one who eats it.

Victoria Sponge is equal amounts of SR flour, sugar and fat (I use soft marg) (4oz in this case) and 2 eggs and tablespoon warm water. To be even more accurate you are supposed to weigh the eggs and then be equal amounts of flour, sugar and fat.

Put all ingredients into bowl and mix fast for about one min with mixer or 2 mins by hand.

Put into 2 x lined and greased 7 inch round baking pans and bake in a preheated oven at 350 for 20 - 25 mins.

Turn out onto wire rack to cool and sandwich with jam if desired also small amount of buttercream and dust with icing (Powdered) sugar.

Kristinn is a man.

But I made the same mistake too, I at first thought he was a woman.

He's the DC chapter's "Warlord" then there was Angelwood.

I know my grandma never wrote anything down. A few people over the years have mamged to duplicate some of her dishes, but not nearly enough.

Are you willing to share your recipe for meatloaf? I have tried several and, although I like it, lately it hasn't been sitting well on my tummy. Something about the seasonings I'm using I guess. It's such a good way to stretch a grocery budget, and is easy to make.

Yes, pearl barley.

Not to be confused with Pearl Bailey.

I also love (adore!) rye.

And anise. (But that's a different recipe genre.)

I just might make my sausage-lentil-barley soup today.

Belay my request for your recipe -- I see you already posted it.

I should think that the mustard and the oats make a big difference from the usual fare, also, the brown sugar. It sounds wonderful.

Well, now, that's EXACTLY what I kept telling Eve--"You want them to be sweet but firm." But she listened to the snake and called, "Adam! YouHoo, Adam." And that was the beginning of women's disappointment.
