Stevie Nicks Gives iPods To Wounded Soldiers

Singer Steve Nicks is doing her part to support U.S. troops by donating hundreds of iPods to soldiers wounded in Iraq. The former Fleetwood Mac star regularly visits soldiers at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland.

She explains, "I refuse to be pulled into the politics of war. But once these soldiers sign up, go to war and come back to a hospital, I will do whatever it takes to make them better." Nicks has provided iPods loaded with her music, along with fellow artists Aerosmith and Elvis Presley.

She has also sent baby clothes to war widows, joined bedside vigils and with the United Service Organization (USO), hopes to provide every returning soldier with a music player. She adds, "Any one of them could be my own child. You can't help falling in love with every one of them."

Well, "there's very few stars left". (& she is one). Go Stevie, don't hide behind your hair!

I've listened to her since I was 16 years old (31 years ago)!

"You prove that no good deed goes unpunished."

Geez, all I said was we knew her politics. Nothing more, so assume nothing.

Lindsey Buckingham, in one live event on PBS (years ago) played an amazing solo at the end of "Chain"... I was mesmerized, I don't mind telling you.

Can't find that particular performance on Youtube yet :/

Through a turbulent personal life and career, Stevie Nicks has always demonstrated a lot of class.

True story: Early in the summer of 1975, some Midshipmen from the class of 1976 at the U.S. Naval Academy were on their summer cruise and heard Fleetwood Mac playing in a dive. (The eponymous album Fleetwood Mac had just been released and was not getting much airplay, yet.)

Over several beers, they negotiated for the band to play a June Week concert at Halsey Field House in June 1976 for their graduation for the princely sum of $5000.

Fast forward several months, and Fleetwood Mac was now a huge success and working on what would become the Rumours album.

The Mids called Fleetwood Mac's agent and left message offering to release the band from their contract.

Stevie Nicks returned the call and said: "You believed in us when no else did. We are looking forward to the honor of playing for you at June Week."

The concert was awesome. Standing room only doesn't even begin to describe how many people were packed into Halsey Field House that night.

Thanks Stevie, and on behalf of the wounded troops, thank you.

"There was nothing minor about Fleetwood Mac. They're one of the great bands in rock and roll's short history.

If it's not your thing, fine. But try not to project your indifference on to everybody else."

Nicely put reply to the aptly-named "Revolting cat" -

My response was tending more toward unrepeatable suggestions for both him and the horse he rode in on...

She's probably slept with everything that moves, plus Christine McVie too. All that and a booze and cocaine and debauchery binge that could cover Mount Everest

I believe that our current President had an alcohol and cocaine problem also. You should have included him in your short list also.
