Through a turbulent personal life and career, Stevie Nicks has always demonstrated a lot of class.

True story: Early in the summer of 1975, some Midshipmen from the class of 1976 at the U.S. Naval Academy were on their summer cruise and heard Fleetwood Mac playing in a dive. (The eponymous album Fleetwood Mac had just been released and was not getting much airplay, yet.)

Over several beers, they negotiated for the band to play a June Week concert at Halsey Field House in June 1976 for their graduation for the princely sum of $5000.

Fast forward several months, and Fleetwood Mac was now a huge success and working on what would become the Rumours album.

The Mids called Fleetwood Mac's agent and left message offering to release the band from their contract.

Stevie Nicks returned the call and said: "You believed in us when no else did. We are looking forward to the honor of playing for you at June Week."

The concert was awesome. Standing room only doesn't even begin to describe how many people were packed into Halsey Field House that night.

Thanks Stevie, and on behalf of the wounded troops, thank you.
