The president spoke with UN SG Kofi Annan about the international force being assembled for Lebanon; the Iranian regime's statement on its nuclear program; and the need to improve the situation in Darfur. He attended a fundraiser for Senator George Allen, R-VA.

President Bush met with Rockey Vaccarella, Louisiana victim of Hurricane Katrina, to discuss rebuilding efforts there.

Today? Not much.

For breakfast a half a banana and a soft boiled egg on (dry) toast, and tea.

For lunch, a cup of cottage cheese and five saltine crackers........then the hot dogs and veggies for supper with a half banana and ice cream for dessert. (This is day two).

Yesterday I had a piece of toast with two tablespoons of peanut butter on it and a half grapefruit for breakfast (and tea), and for lunch a piece of toast with a half cup tuna on it, and for supper, 3 ounces of chicken, a cup of fresh beans and a cup of beets, with a cup of ice cream for dessert and a small apple.

Tomorrow, I have one ounce of cheddar cheese and five saltines and an apple for breakfast, and for lunch a hard boiled egg and a piece of toast, and for supper a cup of tuna and a cup of green beans and a cup of carrots, with a half cup of ice cream and a half a cantalopue for dessert.

Other than the skimpy lunch on days 2 and 3, you feel really full most of the time...........oh, and you drink 8 full glasses of water too.

It's weird, but it works.

it's sad that the extreme lefties and their co-dependants in the media have been chipping away at that stature out of hate and jealousy.

It's one of those "darned if" situations.

If we were attacked again, the I Told You So Lobby would never stop howling.

If we continue not to be attacked, then people forget how horrible 9/11 was and are prey to the whiners.

Did you ever see the History Channel's documentary on food, Gretchen?

They gave the history of pizza and hot dogs and hamburgers, and it was really fascinating.

(But I don't remember enough of it to know if your theory is correct. :)

Lol but I'm an intern. I'd look a bit pretentious with a briefcase. Now once I'm a paid intern, that's a different story ;)

You understand, of course, that I speak merely of the proliferation of hot dogs as an American food item, lacking full knowledge of how they came to BE, what trans-Atlantic or other route of immigration they might have taken, or not taken, if they sprang into being from American soil. (I missed the documentary on food.)

They can be made in different ways, but the way I make them is to thinly slice raw potatoes and put a layer in a casserole dish, then I sprinkle flour, salt and pepper, butter and onions on top, and continue adding layers until the casserole is filled.

After that, I add milk (about half way up), and usually put salted and peppered pork chops on top, and bake about an hour or more, depending on how many you make (with my family, it took MUCH longer!)

VERY tasty!

Carrying that briefcase could be a very useful thing in such a situation. One thing it does is present you as serious-minded to even the most casual observer, as someone looking to advance.

If you always look, act, dress, and think as if you are in the next higher position than the one you occupy, you are likely to keep moving up.

I don't think they are the same. The sandwich grill looks like a waffle iron. It has a hinged lid so that you can put some very fat things in it. It grills more than just sandwiches, but I can't remember what all. The lid will flatten out so that you have two grilling surfaces, but that's not what you do with sandwiches.

I have a toaster that will heat sandwiches and other things, but it's for dry foods - you can't really butter up the bread. It's got grates, not solid surfaces.

My mother's idea of salad when I was young was a plate full of lettuce, thinly sliced cucumber, tomatoes cut into wedges and salad cream drizzled over the top. If you were lucky she might put a few slices of hard boiled egg in with it.

Hence I did not like salad but have since learned that most people in Britain serve that with a slice of quiche or grated cheese or sliced cold meat.

Am I right in saying that to most Americans ham, cheese salad is actually the cheese and ham cut into cubes and mixed with dressing etc. Whereas if we said a meat or cheese salad it would be salad stuff such as lettuce, cumber, radishes, tomatoes etc etc served on a plate with slices of meat or cheese.
