President Bush met with Rockey Vaccarella, Louisiana victim of Hurricane Katrina, to discuss rebuilding efforts there.

Bottom line publicity and money :o)
Despite what the critics say he is still a draw and still raises money as does the Vice the President.

Hi, snugs. I just came in here to log off for the evening. Anything that you'd like to put on the toaster will suit me just fine.
My husband and I were organizing our photo albums and putting away about 6 years worth of pictures and I came across a picture of President Bush when he was campaigning in 2000; what a change the presidency makes in all men. It's a heavy burden and the toll is incalculable.

ARTICHOKES! Artichoke hearts! Pickled artichoke hearts! I got my first taste of those only about five years ago. Experimenting in the kitchen, I found the pickled hearts go well in a variety of dishes, especially in a salmon casserole and blended into a plain noodle side dish.
Your post reminded me that it has been over a year since I had any 'chokes. I have a friend who introduced me to them. He likes them steamed and then dipped in butter.
Bagels were another late-in-life addition for me.

I am terrible at trying to recall details like this. I think they were called Acadians. You got it, I think. The Acadians who moved to LA are called Cajuns. We're talking about the same thing.

Character counts... It certainly does. We see far to little of it in DC these days.....the WH excepted of course.

My dial up used to be quite fast but I am so pleased I went broadband the difference is amazing. Is broadband (cable) not available in your area or is it very expensive?
I know I have to look into what I am paying because talking to people at work I am paying twice what they are per month.
For some reason broadband in Britain has really taken off so much in fact I know 2 people at work who have dial up and they are very light web users.

Well, as I recall from your mentioning it previously, not having pizza was the least of your real concerns as a kid.
I am thankful that you have recovered........through the power of the Lord...........from far more than your restaurant deprivation.

Sheesh, pay attention! :P jk
The short version: I broke my ankle at camp and then had surgery so I now have a plate and 7 screws in my ankle. A cam walker is a big black boot looking thing that helps stabilize my ankle. It goes up to almost my knee which kind of annoys me.

***going through the food grinder. (No one uses those any more - but blenders don't do quite the same thing) ***
Ohhhhhh, I would love an old-fashioned grinder. As you say, blenders don't do quite the same thing. I love ham salad, but refuse to buy it because it's full of fat and sometimes gristle. But home-made ham salad, now THAT'S a treat.
(and, er... I mix the ham with Miracle Whip)

I haven't been able to devote as much time to FR as I used to, which is why I missed the original information on your injury.
I pray you heal thoroughly and quickly.

Clearly, many Americans like Miracle Whip -- it stays on the shelves year after year.

It is so much better and the deals around in the UK are brilliant if you are a new user my problem being an old user and not really wanting the hassle of changing provider will probably mean I am not entitled to much discount.
The main problem I have is that my telephone line is NTL and most companies offering good deals want you to have a BT line which you then switch to paying them the line rental etc and then they offer you broadband either free and you pay minimal amount for equipment and installation or minimal charge for broadband and get free installation, cable modem/wireless router etc.
Anyway I will contact my provider this month and see what they can offer me.
