President Bush met with Rockey Vaccarella, Louisiana victim of Hurricane Katrina, to discuss rebuilding efforts there.

Why would anyone eat mayo if they could get Miracle Whip? Exackery.

Thank you for being kind....I don't know WHAT she was thinking, really. It's in that book, "How to Be a Minnesotan" that our idea of a salad is a wedge of iceberg lettuce with French dressing. I guess she was just taking the Minnesota Salad idea a bit TOOOOOO far! ha ha

I missed the original info on this leg injury:
What's a cam walker,
and what happened to your leg?

No, no - the bologna was called "Jumbo". Ground up was what it was after going through the food grinder. (No one uses those any more - but blenders don't do quite the same thing)
Which group of Canadians are you referring to? I don't recognize the reference. Could it be the Cajuns? (Who later moved to LA). They were culturally isolated, I know.
I don't think radio and tv ever really gave us much insight into most of America. Those media tried to make us understand the NY culture (as if that would improve our status. Ha!) But the Internet certainly has done the job.
To: Just A Nobody
Hey, there! I really can't either. We have been so blessed to have this man as our leader for these hard years!

WWWWooooooo. I feel for you there. Pizza is sooo good. You WERE robbed.
I never had bagels or artichokes until we moved to California, so I kinda know the feeling.

LOL! It surely would help if computers would leave that old, familiar double space between sentences, wouldn't it?

I can't remember my mother EVER serving us pizza. It always seemed like a Forbidden Food that one had to *sneak* out of the house to eat hehe.
I never went to a restaurant till I was 17. I'm serious. We used to go to Dairy Queen occasionally and get dip cones, dilly bars, or Sundaes, and once in a while, went to the A&W for an actual hamburger (no fries) and root beer. I never went to a McDonald's till I was in my 20's.
The world has caught up with GretchenM in the years since then. I can make my way through a restaurant menu quite nicely now. ;-)

I am terrible at trying to recall details like this. I think they were called Acadians.

Oh, yes. Miracle Whip. And the Light version is just as tasty as the regular stuff.
My mother's stand-by salad was a wedge of iceberg lettuce topped with a "Russian dressing" made with Miracle Whip mixed with Heinz chili sauce. Yum. I should treat myself to that again soon.
To: GretchenM
Here's another tasty morsel:
1 flour tortilla, buttered, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar
1 sliced banana
and then you squirt whipped cream on it, fold and eat.
Yummy, but fattening.

I did notice it a bit earlier ohio, but you were very engaged in the Mayo vs Miracle Whip controversy. ;*)
Honestly, I paused and studied your new tagline and my heart tightened. I really cannot imagine our country without him.
