WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Americans believe Democrats would do a better job of dealing with the situation in Iraq and handling the economy, but Republicans would do a better job against terrorism, according to a poll released Tuesday.
On terrorism, Republicans were favored by 48 percent of respondents, versus 38 percent for Democrats. Eleven percent said there would be no difference and 3 percent offered no opinion.
But on the war in Iraq, respondents favored Democrats over Republicans by 47 percent to 41 percent, with 8 percent saying there would be no difference, and 3 percent expressing no opinion.
That's a reversal of what national sentiment was in January 2003, when Republicans were favored over Democrats 53 to 29 percent in a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll.
The poll of 1,033 adult Americans was conducted by telephone for CNN by Opinion Research Corporation. It has a sampling error of plus-or-minus 3 percentage points.
Most Americans, according to the poll, seem to have separate opinions about the war in Iraq and terrorism, with more than half (52 percent) saying the war in Iraq is a distraction from the U.S. efforts against terrorists who want to attack targets inside the United States.

Funny the article forgets to mention that during the Dubai Ports fiasco the Democrats actually led in the polls in this area and have since fell behind again.

I think every poll always says Democrats are perceived as better on "domestic issues". Of course polls say a lot of things which are totally bogus.
The most important thing Congress did for the economy was tax cuts. The Democrats opposed. Idiots.

My goodness my fellow Americans have devolved into a level of stupidity beyond comprehension if they can't see the two issues are one and the same. If we retreat from Iraq, as Dimwitcrats want to do, then we are handing terrorists a win. Who do dunce Americans think we're fighting in Iraq?? The Salvation Army?? God this country is done for.
And what precisely have Democrats done with the economy to make these dunces think they're better at handling it?? It's the Dems. that tried to obstruct the Bush tax cuts that have produced 4% economic growth this year and full employment. And it is the Dims who helped produce $3.00 a gallon gas by obstructing drilling and the building of refineries, to say nothing of the Clinton-era boutique fuel blends that created 30 different fuel blends nationally. Gawd Americans need to turn off the TV news, Desperate Housewives and America's Got Talent and get the f--k informed!!!!

I am always amazed that people take polls seriously. They pick the questions, they pick the responders.
