When Michael Moore Went Yosemite Sam
Hugh Hewitt @ Townhall.COM ^ | 8/22/06 | Hugh Hewitt

Posted on 08/22/2006 11:06:15 AM PDT by Phsstpok

Howard Dean's collapse in the December of 2003 and January 2004 is obscured by the sound of his famous scream.  The scream disguised the real result of Iowa, which was a resounding rejection of the orange-capped Deanics, the Al Gore endorsement and the Rob Reiner election day campaigning.  Dean's oratorical excess on the night of his loss was so memorable that the rejection of the left by Iowa Democrats was quickly forgotten.

The unlearned lesson of Iowa is that the left is deeply distrusted by the center, much more so than the right.  This is the story that is unfolding, again, in Connecticut.

On the night of Ned Lamont's narrow primary win in Connecticut, Michael Moore issued a cyber-equivalent of the Dean Scream. It began:

Let the resounding defeat of Senator Joe Lieberman send a cold shiver down the spine of every Democrat who supported the invasion of Iraq and who continues to support, in any way, this senseless, immoral, unwinnable war. Make no mistake about it: We, the majority of Americans, want this war ended -- and we will actively work to defeat each and every one of you who does not support an immediate end to this war.

Nearly every Democrat set to run for president in 2008 is responsible for this war. They voted for it or they supported it. That single, stupid decision has cost us 2,592 American lives and tens of thousands of Iraqi lives. Lieberman and Company made a colossal mistake -- and we are going to make sure they pay for that mistake. Payback time started last night.

The "resounding defeat" was a four point win, 52% to 48%, and "payback" has run into the problem of a double digit Lieberman lead in polls of all Connecticut voters.  The Lord of the Flies dance that broke out among the followers of Kosputin hasn't slowed, though, and if anything, their anger against Lieberman and the mainstream of Connecticut voters is mounting.  The force of their fury will not help Lamont, of course, but will further disfigure his message and repulse the mainstream.  Had the campaign run another week, the effects of the Great Snarl that is the hard left would have given Lieberman a majority.  There is little evidence that voters in the general election will rally to the Lamont banner and join in the purge.  Like Dean in Iowa, the fury of the left in Connecticut is its own worst enemy.

A Lamont defeat will have far ranging effects on the Democratic left, though they may not recognize the nature of the loss for some time.  Lamont's primary win may be their Pickett's Charge, a high water mark which will remain their greatest day.  The anger and hate which drives much of their movement is simply incapable of assembling majorities in general elections, and Connecticut may be the school in which that lesson is impressed upon the center of the Democratic Party, a necessary education if the party of FDR, Truman and JFK is to recover its balance on issues of national security.

I think Kosputin and the gang understand the stakes and thus will have to throw everything into the Lamont campaign.  If their standard bearer in a deep blue state cannot get over the finish line, their wild claims --see above-- begin to sound like, well, a Jon Lovitz routine.  Jon Lovitz is a funny guy, but he's a comedian, not a political activist.  The left will become the Jon Lovitz Left if Ned Lamont loses, and there has to be a huge portion of the Democratic Party elite who are hoping for just that result  --specifically those who hope to ever again win a presidential election.

Mr. Hewitt may have issues with our "coverage" of the August 22nd "apocalypse" rumors, but on this one, he nails it.

I have been predicting 3 to 5 seat pickup in the Senate and 10 to 15 seat pickup in the House for the Republicans.  It started out simply as a contrarian reaction to the attempt by the media to create 'facts on the ground' with their bogus polls.  I have grown increasingly confident as the lunatic extreme has moved to the forefront in the dhimmirat party.  As the Stalinist purge of otherwise reliable party members such as Joe Lieberman picks up steam I'm beginning to wonder if I'm being too pessimistic of our chances.

Can you say super majority?

Normally I'd be inclined to agree, but lately the pubbies have done a reasonably good job of shooting themselves in the foot as well. So the winner will be the party that can still limp come November.

and your point in linking to http://www.michaelmoore.com/ is?

IOW, are you agreeing with Moore that Bush is a "miserable failure," or pointing out that Michael is one, based on Hewitt's argument?

It is absolutely beyond me why the democrats are basing all their politics and energy against President Bush. He is NOT running in 2006 and can not run in 2008. To campaign so heavily against a person not running just amazes me.

All that having been said, I am glad they are doing it. Spinning wheels will get no traction.

Google bombing Moore's site up to the number 1 match.

He's been as high as number 2. Currently Jimmy Carter holds that spot. Moore's site is #4.

Also let me mention the goat sex site, may it soon be #1 (it was only launched last week).

Part of my prediction is that, if the dims do lose seats this fall, they will cease to exist as a single, coherent, party.

You'll get the MoveON.ORG/KOS/Soros folks spinning off into Stalinist purity, probably as the Social Democrats, or some such. You'll also have a Lieberman led "centrist" part based on the DLC types. The Clinton crowd will be split between these two cults.

The minority blocs will fracture, with the employed going independent or Republican and the Kwezi/Jesse/La Raza types breaking off into balkanized race based political ghettos.

It is properly termed Phacts, they are uttered during the evening SNews. Manufactured snews that is used to prove that republicans are going to kick your grandma, eliminate her Medicare, Bush is an idiot and they are going to oppress you in some vague manner.

Got any spare Tree-of-life or Pak protector? I am coming into the correct age. Would another republican protector help things?

The point of linking miserable failure to Moore, is to "google-bomb" him. If we get more miserable failure links to the rotund idiot, his website gets a higher listing in a google search for "miserable failure".

Insightful...

...but I really don't like the slander of Yosemite Sam.

I have seeded the atmosphere with the tree of life virus in select locations (certain blue states). As the transformation will also involve them finally becoming smart enough to see what idiots they've been they'll quickly correct the error of their ways. I and my fellow existing Protectors will then dispatch them to the ME.

After they settle things down there I have this fleet of transports waiting. They'll uproot the unruly types and ship them off to colony worlds where they can bash in each other's heads to their hearts content. We'll give the third world a few hundred worlds fo their own to try to run on by themselves and see how they do. But they won't be here to sponge off of us anymore.

The point of linking miserable failure to Moore

Does posting the link between that miserable failure Moore, actually "google-bomb" that miserable failure Moore, or does the link have to be followed?

Without the Socialist Party of America or the Communist Party of America throwing their support behind a Democratic Presidential Nominee. They haven't enough votes to win.

I think the way the search engine works is that the more links it finds linking the keyword or term to the website, the higher up it moves the website on the google search results. Therefore, the more times somebody posts something like miserable failure as a link on their own webpage, or on a discussion board like this one, the higher it moves the linked website on the google search results for the term "miserable failure".
