AUSTIN, Texas - Chanting "Try Rove for treason," Cindy Sheehan and more than 50 other war protesters disrupted a reception before President Bush's top adviser Karl Rove spoke at a fundraiser Saturday.
One woman was arrested during a scuffle with police after Sheehan and the anti-war demonstrators rushed toward the closed doors and kept chanting loudly after the guests went into the dinner.
Rove was speaking to the Associated Republicans of Texas, and ticket prices started at $200. He was not in the Renaissance Hotel lobby during the reception.
"I want him arrested. He planned the war that killed my son," Sheehan told officers guarding the door. Sheehan's oldest son Casey was killed in Iraq in 2004.
Police then ordered the group to leave, but some protesters had paid for rooms for the night. Those protesters went upstairs, including Sheehan.
Earlier, wearing shorts and T-shirts while guests of the lobby reception walked past in sequined dresses and expensive suits, anti-war demonstrators carried American flags and signs, including one that read "Check your conscience." A few protesters unfurled a large banner from a sixth-floor hotel balcony that read "Rove v. Truth: No Contest. Pink slip Rove."
Those at the reception sipped their drinks and largely ignored the protesters before they started chanting. One man looked at the group and said, "Go Bush!"
Earlier Saturday, the group of more than 70 gathered at the hotel entrance, carrying a large banner that read, "Rove: Guilty of crimes against humanity." Ann Wright, a former U.S. diplomat who resigned in 2003 in protest over the war, yelled through a bullhorn, "Karl Rove, you are a criminal!"
After about 30 minutes, Austin police made them move onto grass at the edge of the property about a block away. Dozens remained later Saturday, holding signs as cars drove by, honking their horns.
Sheehan and the group left their campsite in Crawford near Bush's ranch, where they have held vigil the past two weeks, and drove about 100 miles south to Austin.
The war protest will continue until early September, although Bush's ranch 10-day ranch vacation ended last weekend. Sheehan's 26-day protest last August drew more than 10,000 people to her campsite in ditches off the rural road leading to the ranch, but she recently bought land near downtown for the group to camp on.
yeah i'd so say just think some Women whos Husbands have died in iraq are working two jobs
all roads leds to Travis County
"Sheehan's 26-day protest last August drew more than 10,000 people to her campsite in ditches "
Yes it probably drew 10,000 people however 9,500 out of the 10,000 of us were there to laugh at this hag.
Crawford is definitely Bush Country and Sheehan only attracted a minute audience.
How much time is she spending protesting and disrupting the business and personal lives of the CONGRESSMEN AND WOMEN WHO VOTED TO AUTHORIZE THE WAR?
if ugly and stupid were a crime Sheehan would be #1 on the FBI's most wanted list
I could care less how about that if you dont like my posting dont read them at all
couldn't finish it....nausea
she's just a tool for Left is all just a clean tool to get back there power i'm sure she will be replaced with some other dumbass
Don't feel sorry for me. If I were in down town Austin, I would have stayed in the Hilton for $209/night. However, for the same part of town, the Radisson would only cost $169/night. This tells me that if it were Cindy Sheehan's ticket, she would have stayed in the Radisson (or something even less like the Comfort Suites, Downdown South for $80/night). However, my point is that this was not on Cindy's ticket. Some other benefactor is footing the bill and she is as they say, an "Useful Fool" of the Left.
Pleeeze rememburr to ping the postur u talk abowt. LOL.
You should care. I will make my share of word mistakes when I post on the FR. When I do, I am not happy with myself. And, I try to improve and not make those errors again. There is a reward in seeing improvements.
I ask you to work on how you communicate. Why? The FR is a great opportunity for one to improve on their communication skills. That way you can be more effective in how you influence your friends and spreading the good word to those who live in darkness.
If you don't care about how your language is affecting people, then your free speech is not going to be worth much. I know I won't be reading much of it because it is not easy reading.
He can't, but the Admin Mods can. If enough FReepers get tired of your lazy, incoherent sentences and press the Abuse button on you, you will find that out.
If you are a serious patriot here are some guidelines for you
Try to post less often
Stop repeating yourself ad nauseum
Read other people's posts. Examine how they made their points. See where they used punctuation (full stops, commas etc) to clarify their ideas and then try to emulate them.
Peace House is a front group for several radical causes, among them the support of Palestinian terrorism and Baath Party insurgents under the guise of promoting peace activism. Sheehan has associated herself with Medea Benjamine of Code Pink, Leslie Cagan of United for Peace and Justice, who is an active member of the Communist Party USA. Another operation we all know about is is Move On, founded by California millionaires Wes Boyd and Joan Blades in 1998 to defend President Clinton from impeachment (this organization is now funded by George Soros and other millionaire activists). It is this segment of the far Left that according to my hero, David Horowitz, is major component of the Democrat Party. Howowitz's book, "The Shadow Party: How George Soros, Hillary Clinton, 60s Radicals Seized Control of Democrat Party" spells out how an undercover network of "Progressive activists, and mob dominated unions" mostly financed by George Soros, have underwritten the Democrat Party. If this network succeeds in getting Congress under Democrat control this November, according to Horowitz, "they'd begin with a impeachment process and investigations. Remember, the Democrats have sabotaged the war on terror from the beginning without having control of the Congress. Imagine what they'll do when they get control."
