A Time/CNN report stated, "Al-Qaeda terrorists came within 45 days of attacking the New York subway system with a lethal gas similar to that used in Nazi death camps. They were stopped not by any intelligence breakthrough, but by an order from Osama bin Laden's deputy, Ayman Zawahiri.
Al-Qaeda's decade long activities in the Balkans were well known, as reported in The Wall Street Journal article of 1 November 2001: "For the past 10 years, the most senior leaders of al Qaeda have visited the Balkans, including bin Laden himself on three occasions between 1994 and 1996. The Egyptian surgeon turned terrorist leader Ayman al-Zawahiri has operated terrorist training camps, weapons of mass destruction factories and money-laundering and drug-trading networks throughout Albania, Kosovo, Macedonia [FYROM], Bulgaria, Turkey and Bosnia."
As long ago as 1992, Jerry Seper of The Washington Times, sounded the alarm when he wrote "KLA Rebels Training Camp," and that "some members of the Kosovo Liberation Army, which has financed its war effort through the sale of heroin, were trained in terrorist camps run by international fugitive Osama bin Laden" Seper goes on to write: "Jane's Intelligence Review estimated in March that drug sales could have netted the KLA profits in the 'high tens of millions of dollars.' It said the KLA had rearmed itself for a spring offensive with the aid of drug money, along with donations from Albanians in Western Europe and the United States."
A report which should have been a good indication of the quagmire that the Clinton administration was moving our country towards was witten by Army LTC John E. Sray, titled, "Selling the Bosnian Myth to America: Buyer Beware," covering Bosnian Muslim government propaganda.
Journalist Julia Gorin of Front Page Magazine on 20 March 2006, asks, "How many Americans know that the terrorists who carried out a spate of suicide attacks in Iraq in August 2004 were trained in Bosnia, or that al Qaeda's top Balkans operative al-Zawahiri's brother Mohammed had a high position with our terrorist KLA 'allies'?." Apparently, terrorism is a family affair.
The signs were all there, yet nobody connected the dots that would have led them back to the terrorists in Bosnia like al-Zawahiri and bin Laden himself. With all of this available information, congressional hearings, the 9/11 Commission Reports and numerous political organizations and advocacy groups have ignored the festering sore of Islamic terrorism in the Balkans.
President Bush assured us that we would never negotiate with terrorists, yet on 19 June, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met with Kosovo Prime Minister Agim Ceku, an indicted war criminal. According to Jane's, in 1993 Ceku masterminded the massacre of Bosnian Serbs at Medak. Also known as The Battle of the Medak Pocket, the battle is remembered in Canada as that nation's largest military action since the Korean War when Croatian troops attacked The Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry who were trying to stop the ruthless massacre of Serbian women and children. In 1995, Ceku was one of the key planners of "Operation Storm," which ethnically cleansed over 250,000 Serbs from their ancestral homes in the Krajina region. Thousands of Serbian civilians were murdered, most of the victims being elderly and disabled persons who were unable to flee the carnage.
The American Council for Kosovo> (www.savekosovo.org ) is working to prevent another colossal mistake in the Balkans, a mistake that would be detrimental to US interests. The last thing America needs is another rogue state run by terrorists and criminals.

So why are we diddling around with the UN in terms of Hezbollah, Iran, Syria, etc. Then there's our friends the Saudis...
Realpolitick has to come in somewhere, but if we want to win this war, we have to stick to the Bush Doctrine across the board.
We were on the wrong side in that conflict.
yup you guessed right.
My screen name is no accident.
Good tagline!
We're not fighting their lost ethnic wars for them, no matter how hard or creatively they or their friends try to rebrand them.
We'd be far more interested and pleased if the Serbs would clean up their own house, taking out the Milosevic era trash, rather than continually trying to play "Deny responsibility, attempt to shift blame, & make counteraccusations."
Ain't gonna happen, I know, but that's Serbia's loss, not ours.
Don't forget Jimmah, the source of all this crap.
thanks
Welcome to Free Republic! We need you!
We should have let the Serbs destroy those Muslim swine.
For those who don't know, the Balkans is the exceedingly dangerous part of the world which served as home to Victor Drazen and his family.
ping for Stella!
By the way folks, what else do you need to know? http://www.sky.com/skynews/video/videoplayer/0,,91134-bosnia_p3705,00.html
If Serbs hade their way, you wouldn`t need to invade Iraq and Afghanistan.
I ment If Serbs hade their way in 1389, 1804, 1835, 1878, 1912, 1945, 1992.
All above wars were defencive and liberation against Islamic agressors and occupators.
If you are refering to war in Bosnia 1992-1995, that is just another war against Islam... and their allies, like you are.
Milosevic is dead and gone so get over it. The Serbs are our best alternative in dealing with the Muslim terrorists now entrenched in Bosnia and Kosovo. As this now global terrorist war continues to expand the NATO will need all the friends it can get. The Serbs will always be there right in the front line facing this Islamic threat just like they have been doing for centuries. In time you will see they are our friends and with or with out NATO will continue to fight the Islamic invaders. If there are more people like you in the US Hoplite the war is lost, will be your way of life in the trailer park, imagine not being able to watch the Simpson's because its time for Koran lessons or else...
"(We were already there, but so what..)"
No Hoplite real U.S. soldiers where in Bosnia, Kosovo and Afhanistan not you. You were in your trailer park developing a gut from all the cheap beer you get delivered...
Hoppy, I just viewed the video linked at reply #16.
Could you point out which one is you?
The VRS did not need help fighting and defeating the muslims nor the Croatians. You were not there, get over it. You don't know the carnage of death the Serb civilians endured at the hands of Oric, Ceku,Gotovina and their likes, foreign imports (except Oric).
Where do you get off (exept in the privacy of your own residence) making heroes out of Oric, Ceku, Thaci and Gotovina?
