Hezbollah or Home-Grown? Who Drew This Editorial Cartoon?

A man labelled with a Jewish star laments that he can't blow up food and medicine being handed out to Arabs. Hezbollah is lauded for "building bridges" with people.
Where does this editiorial come from? A Hezbollah house organ, perhaps? Al-Jazeera? Maybe a fringe anti-Semitic group in the US?
No. It's an editorial cartoon by Joel Pett of the Lexington [KY] Herald-Leader that the Los Angeles Times saw fit to reprint on its op-ed page of this. This is the state of the MSM in 2006.

I notice the coward only put the Star of David on the first frame.

It would have been funny if the last panel had said:
We should hire them to rebuild New Orleans!...........

Hey, Mark, did you check to make sure the star was on the original? THAT would really be something if it wasn't. I ask because it seems odd that the artist went to the trouble of putting it on the first panel but not the others.

Not concerned.
If the Lebanese people want to throw their lot in with the Hezbollah, next round Israel can skip the leaflet drops.

I took your suggestion and went to the Herald-Leader's site. Interestingly, the cartoon . . . isn't there! Perhaps they haven't posted it yet, or possibly Pett drew it especially for the LA Times. A number of Pett's other cartoons are archived at the Herald-Leader, and they are equally heavy-handed. Here's a link:

In my local paper, there was a picture a few days ago of an Israeli soldier wearing a Lebanese flag over his shoulder. Israel has lost this war on all fronts.

You can look for media bias in anything and find it.
The real point of the cartoon is the Hezbollah is doing things that the Israelis cannot destroy and how frustrating that is to them. You can then look at that from an anti-Israeli point of view or from a sense of realism that Hezbollah has managed to outflank Israel in this war from a PR front.

Don't email. Call them up and let them know that this will not stand in the United States of America. A Star of David sewn on clothing is the very worst symbol of what the MSM is trying to do to this country.

I see. And you don't detect any anti-Israel bias in the depiction of the man with the Jewish star lamenting he can't blow up food and medicine? Do you think Israel was intentionally targeting civilians during the conflict?
To: misterrob
You are wrong. The point of the cartoon is to demonize Israel and lie about Hezbollah.

Hezbollah is doing things that the Israelis cannot destroy Hezbollah is known for moving into an area and constructing an ammunition depot as a first step. Then, they build a school on top of the ammunition depot. That way, either the ammo dump will be immune from attack, or else when the ammo dump is blown up, there will be lots of dead children who can be exploited in the media. It's a win-win.
Hezbollah is focused on killing Jews. They don't really care about helping anyone.

My take on it was that Israel cannot bomb the type of bridges that Hezbollah is building. The author is spot on too. Israel started this war in a favorable position then pissed it away. Hezbollah has gained prestige in the Arab world and will grow in stature and influence as a result. The current Israeli regime will be out on their asses for it and deservedly so.
Whatever the particular bias of the cartoonist may be, he is correct.
To: tdewey10
That's your take but I don't agree. Hezbollah has won the PR war here and that will pose serious consequences for Israel in the future.
To: misterrob
Sounds like you wish hezzbollah was in your future. Flattened cities, flattened infrastructure, a country where NO business investment will be forthcoming, and uncounted lives lost.
Quite a PR coup, in your estimation.
How easily some are influenced by the MSM rather than the facts.

Israel has lost this war on all fronts. That's true if you think war is a media event. In the real world, the war isn't over and Israel will prevail.
