When you look at the quotes from the Abscam sting, and this latest foolishness, you realize that Murtha isn't necessarily a traitor or whatever--he's just incredibly self-centered. He had a need in the Abscam tapes to push how close he was to those in power. Here he saw an opportunity to swing the spotlight his way, and he took it.
He doesn't give a damn about our soldiers in harm's way, but I don't think he hates them--he doesn't CARE enough about anyone else to hate them. He just needs to feel he is at the center of attention. If only he'd realize what this childish desire of his cost others.

murtha did defame and dishonor a soldier. murtha humiliated himself in front of the nation. if all of congress spoke as murtha, then the enemy we are fighting would be further emboldened. It could cause a situation where more people die because of the congressman's words. This isn't simply.... aid and comfort.....This is more!
I call murtha's speech choosing a side....hint...hint...and the side chosen isn't America.

Murtha has already humiliated himself in the eyes of our military. He will lose or settle this lawsuit and further humiliate himself and he will lose his House seat to Diana Irey in November.
He desrves every bit of that humiliation, he brought it on himself.

I an soooo happy she put out this statement. Murtha's response was a slap in the face. It was the typical I support the warrior while I call you a psycho wimp.

I distinctly remember watching President Nixon, when talking about a then-current accused criminal (the case had strong notoriety at the time) say the guy was guilty, directly or indirectly of the crime. The phrase allegedly guilty had simply escaped his mind.
He was vilified in the press and there was no small amount of discussion on the Sunday shows about the fact that he could be sued for saying that.
Enter Murtha, who goes far farther, and IS sued. This will be interesting. We will see if we live under the rule of law.
I believe Murtha will lose this one, and he is very, VERY nervous.

This should serve as a reminder to all not to be sloppy in the use of language. Murtha deserves the suit, and deserves to lose. OTT rhetoric, while protected, should be shunned by the public. It is fine to express outrage, but not to use phrases like "murder in cold blood" or even "murder" (which has a legal definition) in expression of outrage over an act which has not been so deemend by a court of law.
Sloppy use of language is for sloppy thinkers, and we don't want sloppy thinkers representing us in Congress. It's bad enough to see them on the web and on the TV.

No, I don't have a law degree, but it seems as if the media made a little error in terminology, and Mrs. Irey's people unfortunately repeated it. It's important that those who make the laws are precise about things like this.
The suit filed by the Marine is not a libel suit, as far as I know, since libel refers exclusively to the printed word. The correct terms are "slander suit" (slander refers exclusively to the spoken word) or "defamation suit" (defamation is a broader term which includes both libel and slander). I believe that the claims in the suit refer only to material spoken by Murtha.
Separately, it was an excellent strategy by the Irey people to point out Murtha's involvement in Abscam and to contrast Murtha's getting the benefit of the doubt there to his failure now to cut the Marines whom he accused the same break.
The Irey campaign should also issue a statement attacking Murtha for his support of an immediate cease-fire in the current Israel-Hezbollah conflict, and I'm confident that they will.

Irey isn't missing any opportunities to land body shots on Bloody John Murtha.
I like that.

I am supporting Diana and hoping for the best. This POS needs to go.
That said, this is a tough area.
You could show a video of jack having relations with a crippled lamb and a video of Diana pulling the elderly from a burning building and they would still vote for the a$$hole.
