Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore has been touring the world and making presentations of an impending global pole shift.
"The world is in a greater danger now than ever before", Mr. Gore said, "and the time for us to take action is drawing short".
"Any time between now and the year 2012 the earth will shift on its axis, causing massive flooding, worldwide suffering and death."
Mr. Gore also urged action on the part of his audiences, including massive migration of humans from one continent to another to shift the load on the earth and bring it back into balance.
"This truth might be inconvenient, but future generations are counting on us to take action now", he insisted, "and much better to relocate your home now than for your children and grandchildren to lose theirs in the future".
Mr. Gore has also been promoting his newest book, Earth Coming Unbalanced.

As Al Gore walks the earth, it's Center Of Gravity follows close behind..
Welcome to Free Republic.
Enjoy your stay.
What is he advocating that's so silly? Caring for the environment? That's really crazy...yeah...
His tactics may occasion a bit of "fear mongering" -- but caring for the environment is not silly at all.
He was warned to not bend his crank.
Welcome to FR.
Based on the factual evidence, global warming is merely an unproven theory and is no basis whatsoever for economic policy. There are potential risks of global warming but until the theory is much more proven, it's not responsible to make drastic changes in economic policy based on this theory.
BTW, welcome to FR, but your screen name is slightly suspicious. You might want to try again with a new screen name. We are partisan around here.
"Look up in the sky, it's a bird ,it's a plane , no it's Super Al"
Gee , gotta see if NICK plays the old George Reeves Super Man on Sunday.
Actually I think the "flip" is believed to be relatively short in duration. Of course geologicaly 1000 years is short - but i'm thinking its more on the matter of months to years? (Just guessing).
And there is concern as to what will actually happen (other than looking at my compass upside down). When it 'flips" it may weaken - and the protection it provides from the Sun's electromagnetic field would be reduced (lost?). So - it could be a catastrophe. But I suppose the quicker the "flip' the less harm.
Oh well - I've got other things to worry about!! (And Global warming ain't one of them either!)
:)Welcome to FR.
Al will put the world on his shoulders and guide
the planet back into orbit.
All of us here care for the environment. We like clean air, clean water. We conserve. Contrary to what your liberal friends snidely mutter about us, we are very pro-environment. Conservatives generally feel that we are stewards of the earth, and that God expects us to treat it with respect.
But we don't fall for Al Gore's hysterical, cockamamie, Chicken-Little paranoia, which tries to cloak itself in a patina of science, but is really no more than a fairy tale designed to give us nightmares. He wants us to drastically slash our oil consumption and dramatically reduce emissions that have NOT been proven to have ANY effect on global temperatures. He then tries to frighten us by saying mankind is responsible for the .5 degree increase in temperatures we have seen in the past century, ignoring the truth, that the planet has warm spells and cold spells, regardless of what puny effect man may have. He ignores the simple fact that the VAST majority (98%) of so-called "greenhouse warming" in the atmosphere is due to WATER. Does Al have a plan for getting all the water out of the atmosphere?
A few quick points:
a) On what are you basing your conclusion that GW is only natural fluctuation? There is very good evidence for GW. Even those oft-cited reports supposedly contradicting it are being misinterpreted. For example:
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/07/27/opinion/27doran.html?_r=1&oref=slogin
b) Kyoto is one thing. Gore also strongly urges us to behave responsibly individually -- in fact, the entire final credits of "Inconv...Truth" are replete with such advice. That's as much a moral issue. It's important to act responsibly. For our kids.
c) Partisanship is silly. Economic, social, and other issues lie along many complex dimensions -- you cannot even begin to pretend that any one group has a ready-made solution for them all.
d) Thanks for the welcome everyone. :)
Caring for the environment is not silly at all. Gore is silly, and his claims about the enviroment are often absurd.
No, it is not okay to make stuff up and try to start a panic and spend billions of dollars solving non-problems just because it is the environment. It is not okay to create public policy around a pack of lies and distortions.
You want to "stop partisianship?" Stop the race baiting democrats and the enviro-whackos like Gore from saying ANYTHING to garner votes. Gore is a political opportunist and a fraud.
Is this one of those sites like Scrappleface?
Back in the old days, guys like him would be standing on the street corner holding a sign proclaiming "The End of the World is Here.
Now, he's a mainstream media icon.
