Update:

SEATTLE – At least two people have been shot at the Jewish Federation at 2031 Third Ave. in downtown Seattle. One or two people have been taken into custody but it's not known if they are suspects.

One person was reportedly shot in the abdomen and another in the arm. They are being taken to Harborview Medical Center.

Part of Third Avenue and Second Avenue have been closed to traffic. Police are urging people to stay away from the area. It's not known if more suspects are at large but policemen were seen handcuffing one person and others were searching the area.

At least three people were seen emerging from the building, escorted by police. It's not know if they were hostages.

Medics, escorted by police, have been taking other people from the building.

"One witness, who declined to give her name, said a man walked into the Jewish Federation building with a gun, said he was upset about what was going on in Israel, then opened fire. After the shootings, the man said to call 911, the witness said. The witness said the man identified himself as an American Muslim."

Seattle police have arrested one man who reportedly walked into the Jewish Federation building with a handgun and began shooting.

Seattle newspaper reports:

"...A man got through security at the Jewish Federation and told staff members, "I'm a Muslim American; I'm angry at Israel," then began shooting, according to Amy Wasser-Simpson, the vice president for planning and community services for the Jewish Federation.

We had an incident like this in Pittsburgh PA, South Hills suburban area within the last ten years. Caucasian shooter, a crazy, hate-filled dude, shot up the Jewish Community Center in Mt. Lebanon, killed his elderly Jewish neighbor, also targeted several blacks and Asians. Killed approx. five people, wounded a few others. Found guilty and is in jail....can't remember further details.

That's "NAH-vin", not the name of Steve Martin's character in "The Jerk".
