I think his reaction to the show would hurt him worse than the show itself. My cousin, a liberal democrat, absolutely loves the Colbert Report. Shows the Washington scene democrats are out of touch with even their American base.

I cannot stand Wexler but I saw the interview and thought it to be hilarious. Those that take offense to what he said are those that are so uptight that one couldn't drive a ten penny nail up their butt with a sledgehammer. It was good comedy and a politician that for a moment could laugh at himself.

Couldn't have happened to a better guy-- except maybe Bubba himself, and Bubba wouldn't have been telling a lie when he finished Colbert's sentence.

I'm trying to think of a few politicians that would be able to go on Colbert and play along (and have fun with it). McCain came to mind - not because I am a huge fan of his, but because he's feisty enough and can show a sense of humor sometimes.

Wexler is so intense and has no sense of humor. Great choice. The condo Nazis love him, though.

Mrs. Wexluh's little boy Bobby...what a creep. I love it when lefties get ambushed by their own media poodles.

I like Colbert's brand of humor, except for his Washington press club gig. He was trying to be too cute, and it was very disappointing, because Steve can be very funny. And sometimes it can get a little raunchy, but compared to all the other stuff in our x-rated culture, it's pretty tame. He is very quick with the one-liners, and most of his guests do well playing along with his political charades.

Isn't Wexler the one who thinks he's an expert on elections?

Well, Duuh! What did he THINK was going to happen? It's the Colbert Report! I guess he doesn't know any older teenagers, or twentysomethings. They LOVE the show and could have told him exactly what to expect!

"I enjoy cocaine because it's a fun thing to do." Followed by, again at Colbert's suggestion: "I enjoy the company of prostitutes for the following reasons because it's a fun thing to do. If you combine the two together, it's probably even more fun."

Cobert premised his prompt with the statement that since Wexler had no opposition in his election, he could say anything he wanted. Wexler obviously is not smart enough to realize that he must stand for re-election in 2008.

How can members of Congress keep getting roped in like this by that guy? You'd think they'd know about him by now.

The only saving grace is that few people watch Colbert and fewer vote in Wexler's district.
