I just heard that! I emailed freeper rebel_yell2 and let him know just now.

Have you heard anything from him? Do you know if he is safe for now? He has been on my mind quite a bit. I will keep him in my prayers.

"How is it the State Department's fault that it is dangerous to move around in Lebanon??"

It's not. It's their fault that they're not doing anything effective to get Americans out safely, and won't.

I'm talking about people vacationing or just making money.

The same could have been said about Christopher Columbus, the pioneers, all the wagon train leaders leading adverturous new Americans hoping to settle the Wild West and make their fortunes, and last but not least the astronauts of today. Men of courage, strength and willing to take risks are the men (and women) who founded this country.

"It will set off, likely late today from Cyprus and start picking people up tomorrow. This is a European initiative, and the security guarantees have been given," he told Reuters.

Who is giving the security guarantees? Has Hezbolla said they won't attack them? And would you believe them if they did? Hope you stay safe and get home soon.

LOL join the "Foxed by Fox" club old sport. I lost at least two or three lunch bets in the office via bogus Fox Breaking News Alerts back at the time when the U.S. was checking those "mobile weapons labs" and found, oops, didn't find, traces of plutonium, etc.

If you're taking risks that we warned you not to take, for your own selfish greed, why should we have to bail you out? If you want to take that risk, go for it. But don't expect me to take the risk for your profit.

I travel overseas. Sometimes I go into dangerous places. But I do NOT expect the US to come save me if I get caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time. It is nice if State can and does help, but any traveler is just plain silly if he thinks that he is safe or has any "rights" beyond our borders. You do the best you can, but it is still chancy and that is true if you're on a cruise ship in the Carribean or traveling in SE Asia or if you are heading to Mars.

Oh, and you have the inside scoop on exactly what they are and are not doing, I see.....

Oh, they would. But he and his supporters are too weak. Lebanon is split into various groups which basically either support the Syrian influence and Hezbollah (Shi´ites, Christian Maronites) or who want an independant, free Lebanon (orthodox and all other Christians, Sunnites). I bet every Lebanese is concerned that a civil war may break out now. And Israel has picked its side, it´s just - will they help the good Lebanese to bring the mission to an end? Imho, they have to. I´m really wondering why Israel hasn´t occupied South Lebanon.

Anyone with a little common sense wouldn't post such a xenophobic statement. You really need to get out and about a bit more.

And pardon me for trying to help out a fledging democratic government when a war broke out. I am so sorry to have inconvenienced you!

Unfortunately, FR has its share of those "if you're not just like ME, you're wrong" types. I've gotten commments like that lobbed at me on here, too.

I and most others understand why you're there and support it 100%. And if everyone were of the mind Racer1 is, things would be in even more chaos in the world and our freedom would be much more difficult to defend.

Hang in there - you're in our prayers.

Those comments that you listed weren't mine. They were written about me because I believe in having personal responsibility and common sense. We make decisions, pray that there right and live with them, then pray some more.
