Tim is insisting that Plame was undercover and that her friends and neighbors did not know where she worked. Novak point out that she was exposed by Aldrich Ames.

Not being a Washington insider, I don't know how employment at CIA headquarters works. But, it occurs to me that either everybody who pulls into the CIA employee parking lot every day is done as a secret agent, or certain people like Valerie Plame must have some kind of Maxwell Smart secret entrance a mile away from the front door.

And that seems to be the problem with government; after the Soviet Union folded, the CIA had a surplus of secret agents who look like Russians, or at least could blend into a Russian area.

Instead of retiring the surplus, we kept them on the payroll; how much value does a blonde caucasian woman have as a secret agent in the Middle East?

the war on terror in many ways threatens our very way of life and existence that previous wars did not.

This is true, but only internally. The American socialists are a bigger threat to our "way of life" right now than any terrorist.

Islamofascists will never be able to shut down international trade INCLUDING OIL SHIPMENTS the way the German and Japanese submarines nearly did.

In the 40's, we had to have Merchant Marine convoys to merely move flour and gas across the sea. Even Iran shutting down Hormuz, while messy, doesn't create such a gigantic problem as was faced in WWII.....additionally, belligerant action costs the belligerant (Iran can't ship oil either.)

Another 9/11 or suitcase nuke in the Houston Ship Channel is not a threat to our existence. It will galvanize America (temporarily.)

We will be undone by the American Citiznes that hate you and I, not foreign enemies.

McCarthy was right, communists were infiltrating American society/govt, but the end result of all his work was to let the term "anti-American" become associated with a sympathetic/wrongly accused cause....and we suffer for that today.
