France is picking sides in the next couple of major battles in this war. Even KSA, and the UAE are stepping politely out of the way while Iran and Syria position themselves for a SOLID @sskicking. The Russians and Chinese are even going along with the program (for a price in oil and future energy). The EU is volunteering to go in and fix the UN failures in Lebanon. That should tell the world what will happen in the next 3 months.

About an hour ago I was listening to MSNBC and they were reporting that 3 Lebanese soldiers were killed by an Israeli strike (and I think up to seven were missing).

The host asked a guest if that wouldn't make it difficult for Israel to work with Lebanon going forward someday -- accidentally killing Lebanese soldiers.

The guest was a former Ambassador to Israel I think, and he said that some Lebanese soldiers were known to be on the take with Hezbollah and work closely with that terrorist group.

I was doing some chores and not paying strict attention, but that's what I heard, mewzilla.

The trouble with the Chris Dodds of this world is that they're basically dishonest people. He knows that there is nothing that this admin could have done about this, but true to the democrat playbook, he can't allow the opportunity to bash the admin to pass him by.

It reflects more on him than on the Pres. It makes him look opportunistic. Where was he up to now? If he can comment now, why didn't he comment earlier?

The remote is never handy when that stupid Head On comes on but I have managed to out-smart the Vonage one at last! To make matters worse, Walgreen's have one that follows immediately for hemorrhoids that does the same thing. Giving people with that problem a double whammy.

Guess they figure if a hammer gets a nail home with several raps, they'll do the same thing. Wrong, big time. I'll never buy their product, ever.

Thanks, all. This is the first time I've heard the Lebanese Army mentioned. I wonder if this means the army's chosen sides? If one particular base was allowing Hezbollah to operate from it? I can't believe the IDF hit it by accident.

What gets my shorts in a bunch is that everyone is crapping on W for not being involved. WTH is he the only leader that can do anything?

Time for the media to ask why isn't Putin or Chirac involved.

OK, silly question.

Again, technically you are correct. However, you are living in a dream world if you think that anyone who has a parent that is Jewish, is not considered 1/2 Jewish, whether you like it or not. That's just, realistically the way it is. Regardless of whether you consider this to be purely a religious consideration rather than a secular one. I don't mean say this with any negative connotation, just how the majority of the world considers it.

People don't speak of secular Jews as not being Jewish because they don't practice the Jewish religion or only their mothers are Jewish. They are still considered Jews, even though secular. I don't think there's much point in arguing about what I think you know is obvious. It's not a case of asking you to like this definition of Jew, it's just asking you to acknowledge that this is the way most people think, which is most consider Jewish like they would consider Arab, or Asian, or some other enthnic group. By usage, the term Jewish is looked at not merely in religious terms.

Lebanon under Israeli attack: Sunday Roundup

Compiled by Daily Star staff

Sunday, July 16, 2006

BEIRUT: Lebanon accused Israel on Sunday of using banned weapons against Lebanese civilians in its military offensive against the country. President Emile Lahoud said Israeli forces have fired "phosphorus incendiary bombs, which are a blatant violation of international laws, ...against Lebanese civilians." He called on the United Nations to help "deter Israel from using destructive weapons which violate human rights and the United Nations charter." In an extraordinary meeting earlier Sunday, the Lebanese government also accused Israel of using banned weapons against Lebanese civilians. "We are facing a real annihilation carried out by Israel," Information Minister Ghazi Aridi told reporters after the cabinet meeting. "Israel is using internationally prohibited weapons against civilians," he said. Military sources said that Israel had used phosphorus incendiary bombs and implosion bombs, which suck up the air and collapse buildings. – AFP

HAIFA: Israel does not plan to reoccupy Lebanon, Defence Minister Amir Peretz reaffirmed Sunday after the military confirmed it had sent commandos across the border into Lebanon. "We do not want to reoccupy Lebanon, we have other means of operating," he told reporters in Haifa, hours after eight people were killed in a Hezbollah rocket attack on the northern city. "We do not want to get bogged down in the Lebanese quagmire," he said. The Israeli army confirmed Sunday that its special forces were operating on the ground in Lebanon, in conjunction with air and sea forces, on the fifth day of its offensive aimed at crippling the Lebanese militia group Hezbollah. – AFP

BEIRUT: Hezbollah denied Sunday Israeli reports that its leader Hassan Nasrallah had been wounded in a Beirut air raid. "We deny categorically that Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has been injured," a Hezbollah official said following the Israeli media reports. "This is mere Israel propaganda." Israel's privately run Channel Two television had reported that Nasrallah had been wounded in the latest raid. Israeli government ministers have made no bones about their desire to see the Hezbollah leader eliminated. "He can benefit from no immunity. We will wipe him out at the first opportunity. That's why he had better pray to Allah," Zeev Boim, minister for immigration and an ally of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, said Saturday. General Gadi Eisenkraut, operations chief at Israel's central command, told army radio the military was checking the reports that Nasrallah had been hurt. "According to our evaluations, he was in a bunker several dozen metres (yards) underground in the Dahiya neighbourhood," the general said. Army radio reported that analyses of Nasrallah's voice in recent telephone conversations suggested "very high tension" and "psychological distress". The radio charged that he had not been seen in public since last Wednesday. Questioned on public radio, another Israeli general, Yonantan Locker, confirmed the air force had the capability to "destroy bunkers". "We have already done it and we will continue to do it," he said, declining to comment on Nasrallah's health or whereabouts. – AFP

JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia has pledged 50 million dollars in immediate aid to Lebanon, after Lebanon's government appealed for international help, SPA official news agency reported Sunday. "In response to the appeal of Lebanon's Prime Minister Fuad Siniora, King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz has ordered an immediate transfer of 50 million dollars to be at the PM's disposal," it said. SPA said the aid package is aimed at helping the Lebanese government provide relief and needed services "to reduce the suffering of our brotherly Lebanese people." Late Saturday, Siniora declared Lebanon a "devastated zone" and asked for international help, after Israeli raids killed more than 100 people and ravaged the country's newly-built infrastructure. Oil-rich Kuwait later announced it was sending urgent relief aid worth 20 million dollars to Lebanon, an official statement said. "The cabinet decided to allocate 20 million dollars to send urgent relief aid to brothers in Lebanon to help them confront the impact of this barbaric (Israeli) aggression," the statement said following the weekly cabinet meeting. – AFP

2,000 people marched in Israel's commercial capital of Tel Aviv (turkishpress.com)

YNet reported 1000 at the leftist march, Haaretz (the NY Times of Israel) reported 500.

Which means the actual number of bedwetting moonbats was probably less than 200.
