TAMPA - The immigration agent didn't like the looks of Manuel Pardo's Social Security card. When the 20-year-old from Mexico was questioned, he admitted it was fake.
Pardo and several other immigrants were picked up at a brothel in Dover that night in June 2003, a Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office report shows. Five months earlier, Pardo tried to attack some people with a shovel and was charged with aggravated assault. He served 24 days in county jail.
After Pardo was picked up at the brothel, the federal immigration agent ordered him to remain in Orient Road Jail until he could be transferred for deportation proceedings.
Federal officials said Pardo was deported, but three weeks ago he was back in the county jail, charged with driving without a valid license. Although it is a felony to return to the United States after deportation, he was released on $500 bail.
He walked out nine hours after he was picked up.
As lawmakers debate what to do with at least 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States, federal officials struggle to catch and detain those with criminal records.
Homeland Security officials say they don't have the space to hold every undocumented immigrant they pick up, so they focus on the lawbreakers.
At the end of their jail and prison terms, however, tens of thousands of immigrants who could be deported go free instead, according to a recent report from Homeland Security's inspector general.

We need the NAMES of those officials, hiding behind institional bureaucracy, who have failed to do their duty, who have failed to fully process and deport those illegals coming to their attention. Only by identifying those individuals can we hope to bring a halt to their lazy and incompetent behavior.

I'm getting a feeling that Americans aren't running our own country anymore. There are too many collaborationists helping whatever party they're interested in-illegal immigrants,radical Muslims,the UN,etc-do an end run around the wishes of the American people. Voting,for all that it's neccessary,doesn't seem to be doing the job. Time for another Tea Party?

Sheriff Joe in Arizona has built a jail out in the desert with tents and a fence. When the inmates complain, he tells them "If you don't like it, don't come back."
I'll bet Sheriff Joe could tell them how to build a similar prison in about 10 minutes and ICE could have it built in 2 days if they really wanted to.
One of those tent cities could be set up on otherwise unused Florida swampland. Between the gators, snakes and other nasties I guarantee our unwelcome "guests" wouldn't be returning. If the wildlife can keep down their newly-enriched diet no argument could be made about environmental impact.

Nothing ever changes! I can remember driving Border Patrol Agents around with me on "Joint Actions" due to the fact that they HAD TO PARK THEIR CARS DUE TO BUDGET CONTRAINTS AT THE END OF FISCAL QUARTERS!!!
Funding for housing "detainees" (paying for their jailing costs) was next to NON-EXISTENT!!! At times, unless the detainee was a MULTIPLE VIOLENT FELONY DETAINEE... they were just let go on a "voluntary departure" basis.... (FYI... "I promise to leave the country in 15, 30, 60 days...)!
Same crap goes on today despite agency pronouncements to the contrary!!!

That's the kind of radical violence that would lead to an all out war between the US and Mexico. I agree we as a nation are being much too lax with illegal immigrants, but what you're suggesting is borderline genocide!

Now you're just being irrational and belligerent. You don't just declare war on a country you're having problems with. If we used that kind of policy in the Cold War half the earth would've been destroyed by nuclear weapons. It's called diplomacy, look it up.
Well obviously the politicans of this country don't care about us being invaded by our neighbors to the south.
And while we're on the subject of the cold war, I had relatives in eastern Europe who lived under Soviet rule.
There's a difference between a military invasion and illegal immigrants. It's not the Mexican government that's taking advantage of our lax immigration policies, it's a group of individuals.
And you having had relatives in soviet controlled areas of Europe doesn't have anything to do with my point.
Sheriff Joe wouldn't have a problem!
