McCain-Bush Ticket Possible in 2008?
NewsMax ^ | 11 July 2006

Florida Gov. Jeb Bush has frequently said he won't run for president in 2008, but he's never ruled out being on the ticket as someone's running mate.

And he didn't Monday when asked about teaming up with Arizona Sen. John McCain as Republicans hope to come up with a ticket to keep the White House - now occupied by Bush's older brother, President George W. Bush.

"I like Sen. McCain. I think he's a good guy," Bush told reporters after returning from a holiday in Maine with his family.

Any potential GOP nominee would covet the 27 electoral votes in Florida where Bush enjoys a high job approval rating among voters as he nears the end of his second term.

It was the 25 electoral votes Florida held in 2000 that sent the current president into office - by a scant 537-vote margin of more than 6 million cast in the state.

Bush, 53, would also provide some age balance on such a ticket. McCain turns 70 next month.

When prodded about the likelihood of a McCain-Bush ticket, Bush hedged just slightly.

"There's all sorts of time to worry about the 2008 election," he said.

Bush is prohibited from seeking a third consecutive term as governor by Florida law.

That has even a less of a chance in hell, of being realized.

"but McCain has a conscience... Hildabeest does not.."

Both of them are self-serving egomaniacs. Either would be a disaster. Clinton's a communist (at heart) and McCain is certifiable.

No...McCain...ever.

Nor another Bush, ever! He's my Governor, and he's been pretty OK. He's better than his brother, but I can't handle another Bush in office.

Yeah, no kidding....McCainiac would be my last GOP choice, but between him and any Democrat save Joe Lieberman, I'd be in the GOP line bright and early.

I've thought all along that a McCain/Bush or Guliani/Bush ticket would be a winner. M or G would bring out the moderates and some liberals and Bush would get the conservative votes. As long as Jeb was part of the ticket, I wouldn't mind either matchup.

McCain-Bush would be much better then McCain-Giuliani.

Nah, not a chance.

I like Jeb, he is a HUGE improvement over Lawton Chiles. But he isn't electable to the Presidency, and attaching him to Mccain as VP won't make Mccain any easier to stomach.

I'd like to see Romney/Cornyn. Romney has done well in a state where he has limited power because the legislature has the votes to overturn any veto and he did a good job of getting Health care solutions geared toward the private sector. Cornyn just impresses me as a level headed guy.

"McQueeg is SO hated, by the base"

I'm the base, and I approve this message.

Actually, it's not hate--it's absolute DISTRUST.

Of Trojan Horses and Trojan RINOs.

LIEberman is as far left as Hillary is. Please learn about the people you want to mention, BEFORE you post about them.

The SPECULATION is much sounder than Tancredo, Pence or Allen as the nominee. No way the Treason Media supports Pro-life, Pro National Security McCain.
