NEW YORK - July 6 - The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) today urged media outlets reporting on the New York Court of Appeals' decision in Hernandez v. Robles, Samuels v. New York, and the state's other marriage cases to avoid uncritical reiteration of the plurality opinion's repeated use of the phrase "sexual preference" -- an inaccurate term for sexual orientation that violates Associated Press style guidelines.
The AP Stylebook's entry for gay reads: "Used to describe men and women attracted to the same sex, though lesbian is the more common term for women. Preferred over homosexual except in clinical contexts or references to sexual activity. Include sexual orientation only when it is pertinent to a story, and avoid references to 'sexual preference' or to a gay or alternative 'lifestyle.'"

As far as I know the only thing that differentiates homosexuals from heterosexuals is SEX.
Can anyone provide insight beyond more than touting the 'gay' this or that and educate me on just what comprises the "cultural and social" differences which are exclusive to and encompass male and or female homosexuals?

The phrase "preference" was made forbidden by the guardians of homoactivism because preference implied choice.
Propaganda groups like GLADD insist on "orientation" because orientation implies a lack of control.
This opinion is apparently a larger catastrophy than first reported.
Shining the light on the homosexual lifestyle by correctly calling it a "preference" is a serious propaganda loss for the homosexual promoters.
This also points out how the AP is lock step with these deviants.
The shocking aspect is the AP has accepted these promotional word effort of the homosexual propaganda.
if the AP were honest they would adopt the 100% neutral "homosexual" not any other spin words.

This is why GLADD is having these caniption fits.
These judges(lawyers) used the ACCURATE and PRECISE term for the homosexual lifestyle.
This means a WESTLAW or LEXIS search will come up with "sexual preference" when addressing the issue of homosexual marriage. Make no mistake, this opinion will be reference and will cause language problems for homosexual lawyers.
The have to either use "sexual preference" as the judges in NY or they have to explain WHY they are not using "sexual preference".
The MEME is broken with this opinion.
WHEN this goes to the US Supreme Court. It will be about sexual PREFERNCE not orientation.
All lawyers who write on this issue and those who research this issue have to refer to this opinion's language as written.

The word "homosexual" was invented by a homosexual in the 1880s (or 1870s, can't remember) in order to create a sense of special community among those who practiced same sex acts. In Germany, it's in "The Pink Swastika". Before that propaganada term was invented, homosexuals were just called pederasts and sodomites - actually descriptive nouns. So it's gone from "homosexuals" to "gay". Which means squat. Or rather, it used to be an English word with a sound meaning.
Now it's just slithering propaganda.
Well there is the whole dancing in the streets half naked and performing sex acts in the street, thing. You know, those perverted festivals they insist on calling "Pride" They are certainly unique to the homosexual "culture"
