As we celebrate the 230th birthday of the United States of America, our president joined the ideological, and perhaps biological, descendants of those who fought to give us our freedom by creating this new nation. The president went to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, to speak to and eat with the troops and their families (who gave him a birthday cake).
He will return to the White House for a July 4th celebration with family and friends. That will also serve as a birthday party for the President.
Just wanted to see that again.
good link....
I panicked a bit because a friend of mine has borrowed my old computer to get some excel practise in before a job interview as his machine is playing up.
But I had recently done a toaster for Dolly with that photo so I just changed the names on the cert and date.
Awesome. Thanks so much for all you do.
I just noticed the "Yale" sign attached to what is apparently a symbol of the Yale mascot on that cake. Also apparently has the Yellow Rose of Texas on it.
It looks like the kind of cake one has to call in the pastry chef to cut (needs the creator's touch to dismantle).
SPEAKING of which.....I had a "confrontation" with one of the imported pinkos Friday night. At one point she was studying "your" presence along the fence at the main gate and said, LUV W in Texas - Luvs the Troops, what does that mean? LOLOLOLOL!
Wow...I have been noticed! I hope you told her EXACTLY what it means! (((hugs)))...thanks for keeping my presence with you. I am hoping someday to get to be there in person.
It was Snarlin. BTW, I have enjoyed hearing about DC through your recent trip. Sorry we did not get to meet you.
Hi JAN - We were in DC in May. In Lafayette Park (across the street from the WH, for those of you who don't know), we saw what looked like a homeless shelter. A few folks had taken up residence in a tent/large cardboard box dwelling to protest. Susan Sarandon/C Sheehan had been there the day before to protest. It just looked sad. There was a fellow with a rubber foam mask on of President Bush, with a stupid sign on his chest that I can't recall. Hubby was taking photos, and the protester started walking toward the camera. When we turned and walked away, I said to hubby, "did you see that guy walking toward you?" He said, no, and it's a good thing I didn't!
That is the crazy Nuke lady. She has been there for many years! I was told when the new law went into effect, that you can't sleep in the park, she was "grandfathered" in. If that shelter is vacant for 5 minutes they can remove it. Someone comes to sit there so she can take potty breaks.
Was the guy with the President Bush mask tall and skinny? If so that was the infamous Squeegee! He was there the last 2 days as well. He is occasionally joined by backpack guy who wears a VP Cheney mask. They also have a Condi mask. Those people are nuts!
Not nuts really, just not talented enough to be legitimate stage performers or dumb enough to be street mimes.
Absolutely on the nail.
We are in one of the most pronounced fights of the forces of Light against the Dark.
It is easier every day to separate the wheat from the chaff = the more the dark side gets defeated, the louder they howl - giving themselves away even more.
We need to remember that the Dark has no power source. It can only exist in the absence of Light. Light has many power sources, from the our star, the sun, down to candles - and our individual Lights. There is no 'Dark star' that can create darkness. There is no 'dark switch' to create darkness. The power of Light always wins over the darkness. But it up to each of us to keep-- the Light shining.
The hounds of he*l are loosed upon us = as they are every so many decades. They 'hate Bush' because his Light is dangerous to them. They are determined to put out that Light...for, otherwise, their decades long battle to rule - not govern - this country, will have failed and they will not regain enough strength again/
Our job is to help defeat this enemy at home, to back Bush up and not let his hard work, determination and personal sacrifice go for naught. We are responsible for pushing back the Dark as well.
AS we know, "Freedom isn't Free." We need to earn it...
Snugs, short order means simply that a restaurant has a cook who handles only food that is quick to fix, and he is known...TA DAH...as a short order cook. You don't go to a special place in the restaurant to order it. It's delivered to your table.
But, in the army everyone has to line up and choose from the food provided. Anyone who just wants a burger or something else quick (or short) would have to stand in line while those ahead of him/her choose each item for a full meal. For the army to have a sign saying, "short order," allows two lines which move more quickly. Very efficient.
I've never seen a short order sign in any restaurant. Fast or slow, it's all on the same menu, and it's delivered to your table. (Except for a "burger joint which sells only short order food, and you go to the counter to order it, and carry it to your own table. MacDonalds is an example.)
