Hi JAN - We were in DC in May. In Lafayette Park (across the street from the WH, for those of you who don't know), we saw what looked like a homeless shelter. A few folks had taken up residence in a tent/large cardboard box dwelling to protest. Susan Sarandon/C Sheehan had been there the day before to protest. It just looked sad. There was a fellow with a rubber foam mask on of President Bush, with a stupid sign on his chest that I can't recall. Hubby was taking photos, and the protester started walking toward the camera. When we turned and walked away, I said to hubby, "did you see that guy walking toward you?" He said, no, and it's a good thing I didn't!
That is the crazy Nuke lady. She has been there for many years! I was told when the new law went into effect, that you can't sleep in the park, she was "grandfathered" in. If that shelter is vacant for 5 minutes they can remove it. Someone comes to sit there so she can take potty breaks.
Was the guy with the President Bush mask tall and skinny? If so that was the infamous Squeegee! He was there the last 2 days as well. He is occasionally joined by backpack guy who wears a VP Cheney mask. They also have a Condi mask. Those people are nuts!
