As we celebrate the 230th birthday of the United States of America, our president joined the ideological, and perhaps biological, descendants of those who fought to give us our freedom by creating this new nation. The president went to Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, to speak to and eat with the troops and their families (who gave him a birthday cake).
He will return to the White House for a July 4th celebration with family and friends. That will also serve as a birthday party for the President.
So many great ones today!
Precious w/ Troops ones as always!
Man...Musta been hot...mucho sweat!!!
:)
"I do not like broccoli. And I haven't liked it since I was a little kid and my mother made me eat it. And I'm President of the United States and I'm not going to eat any more broccoli."
President George H. W. Bush
I really think the higher ups should do something about that problem of the food court eating our troops. I mean, we need every able body we have out there.
Absolutely.
The Marine One helicopter detail passes the Washington Monument as U.S. President George W. Bush returns to the White House July 4, 2006 following an Independence Day visit to Fort Bragg
That was a wonderful powerful statement from our prestident. I'll be the guys from Ft. Bragg just went wild when they heard it! WOW!!!
Oh, but of course! They staged the start of their fast at the statue of Gandhi at Mass Ave and Q St. Then they marched from there to Lafayette Park. We had a banner that said, "Cindy Sheehan - Starving for Attention!"
You are welcome! I could not think of a better way to spend INDEPENDENCE DAY!
I very occasionally eat broccoli but only if it's cooked (mushy!) and I don't eat the stems. Broccoli raw makes me gag, truly.
GHWB is my 21st cousin so it must come from somwhere...~!
This photo just popped up at the WhiteHouse website -- WOW, what a shirt!!

OK, I am now being dragged a way from the computer . . . Night all!
I'd send a FRmail to either John Robinson or Jim Robinson -- probably John first.
If any of my fellow FReepers find a modifier lying around, give me a shout. :o)
That is PERFECT!
Though I am currently trying to loose some weight I worked it into my calorie allowance on Saturday :0)
Oh I love your # 66!
Brought touched by it tears!
Thanks!
I deserved that! Especially since we were there just a week ago--sweltering! Even though it was incredibly hot, we walked around so we could get photos from the front and the back of the WH. Very fun!
Gretchen, thank you for this great 4th of July thread. Our president looks darn awesome for a 60-year old guy. He has more energy than most 40-year olds! God love him...I do! ;o)
You are most welcome. I always thought she was treated abominably! BTW, she looks fabulous!!!
Good for you! lol
Thanks. I'm still here...not in DC tonight, though. I'm
waiting to watch the fireworks in DC on TV in the mountain time zone in Vail, Colorado.
