NJ politicians now realize they can do anything and get away with it.. Put state security at risk, don`t matter..All they have to do is say they are gay Americans and they will get book deals, and multi-mill buck mansions.

"Patience people. Us Democrats are still deciding how big we want to grow the government and raise taxes on working people. And to those missing work because the Casino's are closed because I did not designate the Gaming Commission a "vital service", I say stay home and eat cake. Besides Gambling is bad for you and we know better. I think you can all see how complicated this growing the government thing is..."

It's just a disagreement over which taxes to raise. Why won't the Rats just agree to raise them all? How about 20% sales tax and 40% state income tax for starters?

Some NJ facts / quotes:
1 Between 1940 and 2005 NJ population growth was 175%. Gov't employee growth however was over 2000%. Or, over 10 times the growth of population.
2 Gov't (State) employees now number 86,000 in NJ complete with lifetime pension, health, etc. Add county and municipal employee lifetime pension, health, and the number rise to 565,000 people the taxpayers must subsidize a lifetime through taxes.
3 In 2000-2002 recession, revenues from taxes declined 23%. However Gov't spending increased 23% in the same timeframe.
4 The 2007 budget despite a $4.5 B deficit includes another new 1,300 State Gov't employees.
5 Since 2002, New Jersey has enacted $8.7 billion in tax hikes, and the average taxpayer is paying $924 more in annual state taxes than in 2001 -- more than five times the national average. Over that same period, the state budget has grown by approximately $5 billion.
6 Last year, New Jerseys budget was $4.5 billion higher than neighboring Pennsylvania, although Pennsylvania has 3.7 million more residents. Corzine is claiming that New Jersey residents must shoulder a heavier tax burden to eliminate the state budget deficit, his budget would actually increase spending by $2.6 billion"

I live in a small town in South Jersey (Atlantic County) we only have one gas-station, conveniences and liquor store.
I dropped by my brothers store to see how he has been affected by the shut down.
He estimates he has lost at least 500 dollars in commissions from lottery sales.
If this lasts much longer, we will be a red county come Nov.
