Jihad to stay in Pak schools
Islamabad, July 25: The Pakistan government has decided that jihad will continue to feature in its curricula for schoolchildren. Education minister Lieutenant General (retired) Javed Ashraf Qazi, a former chief of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), said jihad is an integral part of Islamic teachings and beliefs and would not be taken off the curricula, which is currently being reviewed. Jihad has many dimensions, which also includes self-negation, and we will teach students the full concept of jihad, he told reporters during a briefing on the draft of the new curricula for Classes I to XII.

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The problem is that we all, liberal and conservative, stand to suffer dire consequences from a lack of a unified effort to fight the growing threat of terrorism. I would be the last to say that someone should take away Al Gores right to play weather hawk in a world that cries out for war hawks; however, I am hopeful that people will see behind the smoke and mirrors of An Inconvenient Truth and focus their attention on the survival of this country. Al Gore has given this weak worn-out planet less than 10 years before it is completely terminal (Will, 2005). Very conveniently this would give just enough time for the American people to place Gore into the white house and allow his visionary intellect and magical skill to reverse the sins of man through the power of the presidency. Will we see another Gore ticket for president? It is most certain that he will not conjure up another joint effort with Senator Joe Lieberman. Lieberman, the Senator from Connecticut, is currently a pariah in the Democratic Party for his strong stand on the War on Terror. Sorry Joe, you just dont have the right set of priorities.
In the end, the level of public acceptance for Gores global warming quest may have a direct impact on a potential 2008 presidential bid. If this turns out to be true, the American people have the unique opportunity to strike two blows for sanity in one fell swoop. So as the enemys missiles fly near our allies in Japan, and fall on the homes of Israel, I ask you where should our priorities be? As terrorist plots are uncovered on a regular basis on U.S. soil, where will we focus our efforts for the future? Will we unite to fight the immediate threat of terrorism, or shall we allow ourselves to continue to be mesmerized by Al Gores magic show, when we truly know what is happening behind the curtain."

SAAG.org - SOUTH ASIA ANALYSIS GROUP - Paper no. 1872: "MUMBAI BLASTS OF JULY 11, 2006 - INTERNATIONAL TERRORISM MONITOR -- PAPER NO. 86" by B. Raman (ARTICLE SNIPPET: "19. While in the past, the Pakistani pan-Islamic organisations and the ISI have been taking advantage of the pockets of anger in the Indian Muslim community for their strategic objectives against India, since March this year, Al Qaeda has been trying to take advantage of them for its own pan-Islamic and anti-US objectives. In view of the increased interactions between the US and India, it is likely to look upon India as providing a fertile soil for its anti-US operations. 20. The impact of Al Qaeda's propaganda and ideology on the minds of Indian Muslim youth, its possible inspiration behind the blasts of July 11 and likely threats to American interests in India from Al Qaeda need close attention. The Madrid blasts of March, 2004, were preceded by strong anti-Spain propaganda by Al Qaeda. The London blasts of July 7, 2005, were preceded by strong anti-UK propaganda by it. Anti-India statements of Al Qaeda since March, 2006, need to be closely monitored and not dismissed lightly as of no consequence. 21. This may please be read in continuation of the earlier articles titled "bin Laden Targets India" at http://www.saag.org/papers18/paper1776.html and "AL QAEDA, THE IIF & INDIAN MUSLIMS" at http://www.saag.org/papers18/paper1743.html ")(July 12, 2006)
