:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Bin Laden Says Will Take Fight to America
(Full Story)

Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden said his group reserved the right to fight the United States on its land and warned Washington and the world community against sending forces to Somalia, according to an Internet audio tape.

"We will fight its (U.S.) soldiers on the land of Somalia ... and we reserve the right to punish it on its land and anywhere possible," said the speaker, who sounded like the Saudi-born militant.

"We warn all of the countries in the world not to respond to America by sending international troops to Somalia," he said of the African nation where Islamists' power is rising.

Residue of Texas City fatal blast detonated
>>In preparation for the planned blast, officials had ordered the evacuation of the Oaks apartments and other homes near the Lakeview.

Members of the Galveston County Sheriff's Office were assisting in the evacuations. Before the prepared detonation, FBI Special Agent Kasey Salway said he expected the blast would cause cause a minimum amount of damage.

But he added: "This stuff is extremely sensitive to heat, shock and friction...We can't identify exactly what this stuff is." He declined comment on the nature of the investigation.

The FBI refused to say whether it believes the men were preparing some kind of attack.

But Texas City Mayor Matt Doyle said: "If we thought this was a terrorist act, the action would be a lot different than we've seen here today. Certainly, the FBI would have raised the level of security inside the city.''

Salway described the substance as similar to TATP, organic peroxide and a primary high explosive. It takes the form of a white crystalline powder with a distinctive acrid smell and has been described as a weapon of choice for suicide bombers.

TATP can be easily prepared in a basement lab using commercially available starting materials obtained from hardware stores, pharmacies, and stores selling cosmetics, according to the Global Security Web site. <<

Well, with a denial like that I have to say they were planning an attack. Did this guy go to a Oklahoma university?

I liked this line too:
>>TATP can be easily prepared in a basement lab using commercially available starting materials obtained from hardware stores, pharmacies, and stores selling cosmetics, according to the Global Security Web site.<<

There's those cosmetics again.. cosmetics, perfume..

I also read another article about this incident that very quickly stated that "this was not a terrorist act". Geesh!

"We believe it to be a peroxide-based explosive," Salway said. "It's a very volatile substance that's extremely sensitive to heat, shock and friction. We found a considerable amount."

Evacuated residents were sent to the College of the Mainland as a makeshift shelter.

A resident, identified as 21-year-old Matthew Rugo, was working with combustible materials inside a unit Wednesday at about 3:30 p.m., which sparked the initial explosion, investigators said.

Rugo died at the scene.

A second man, Curtis Jetton, 21, was also inside the apartment. He was sent to UTMB with first-degree burns to his hands. Jetton was taken into custody and charged with providing false

Will watch for updates.

Honestly, I often think the agents/investigators all went to the same college of denial, disseminate, and distract.

Thanks for the ping, Kyla.

The reward was raised to $30,000 for information on this terrorist attack in Los Angeles....first I heard about it.

Immediate Release
June 12, 2006

ANIMAL LIBERATION GROUP TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR TERRORIST ATTACK ON ELDERLY
WOMAN WHO WAS UNINTENDED TARGET - REWARD FOR INFORMATION OFFERED

Late last night, an animal rights website reported that the Animal Liberation Front or "ALF" has claimed responsibility for an improvised incendiary device left at a home in Bel Air, California. The device found outside the home and mentioned in the website report could have claimed the life of its unintended victim and others.

Arson investigators notified members of the Los Angeles Joint Terrorism Task Force who responded to the residence, which is inhabited by a 70 year old woman and a male tenant. The incendiary device used was similar to devices used by animal rights extremists and eco-terrorists. Investigation has determined that a residence in the neighborhood is the frequent target of protests by animal rights groups.

The improvised incendiary device failed to ignite when left at the victim's door. It is the opinion of arson investigators that if the device had functioned properly, escape would have been difficult to impossible, given the hillside location of the house, possibly resulting in the death of the inhabitants of the residence.

A sample of the flammable liquid was taken by the Los Angeles Fire Department Arson unit for analysis, and the device will be sent to the FBI Laboratory for forensic analysis.

Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact the FBI or their local law enforcement agency. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person/s responsible for this crime. The FBI can be reached 24 hours per day at 310 477-6565.

This investigation will be conducted by the FBI, Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Fire Department, the ATF, and other members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

"Attention Mr. Nasrallah: at the sound of the bombs, the time will be 21:00"
IAF resumes strikes on Beirut after nightfall:

Two heavy explosions shook Beirut after nightfall Thursday, apparently from a new Israeli strike on the capital's southern neighborhood, a Hizbullah stronghold.
The blast went off around 9 p.m., a time Israel has hit south Beirut like clockwork the past three nights.

Meanwhile, in New York, Kofi Annan chokes on the 'T' word.

And the 'S' word.

And the 'I' word.

Gillerman: The word 'terror' not mentioned once in UN Annan's speech:

Israel's Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Gillerman told the UN Security Council that UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan did not mention the word 'terror' once during the speech.
He added that whoever wants violence to stop should turn to Iran and Syria, who he added were also absent from Annan's speech.

Major General Gantz: Attacks causing major damage to Hizbullah:

IDF Land Forces Commander Major General Gantz said this evening during a briefing that up to today 3,000 attacks, out of those 150 being carried out today, have taken place since the start of fighting.
The attacks caused "a very [large] number of killed and injured Hizbullah members, many strikes on infrastructures, targets, arms, and launchers," according to Gantz.

He added that this "effort will go on for a period of time which we are prepared for and in total the accomplishments, with all of the difficulties, are building up."

Catch and release, Hizballah style...

Hizbullah kidnaps two foreign journalists in Beirut:

According to local police in Beirut, Hizbullah operatives kidnapped two foreign journalists in the center of the city Thursday.
Two journalists kidnapped by Hizbullah release:

Two British journalists earlier kidnapped by Hizbullah in Beirut have been released by Lebanese police, a local police officer said.

You see, this is the kind of thing that makes John Bolton angry...
...and makes the rest of us think that the UN is a waste of prime Manhattan real estate.

Hizballah deliberately targets civilians and deliberately puts civilians at risk by waging war from the midst of civilian populations, and according to the United Nations, it's Israel that is guilty of "war crimes."

UN warns of war crimes in Lebanon:

Killing of civilians in Lebanon is likely to subject Israeli soldiers to war crime trials in international courts, UN human rights high commissioner says.

Busy morning...
IDF: Over 70 targets attacked in Lebanon since Thursday morning:

The Israel Air Force attacked over 70 targets in Lebanon since it commenced operations Thursday morning.
Among the targets: two Hizbullah arms and supply caches, three of the organization's training centers, a vehicle serving as a Fajr3 rocket launch site, a rocket launcher, a Hizbullah office, two bridges used for terrorist movement, Katyusha launch sites, and routes used for terrorist movement.

Lebanese Army may join forces with Hizbullah:

The Lebanese Minister of Defense warned Israel Thursday that if IDF ground forces are sent into southern Lebanon, Lebanese troops will fight along with the Hizbullah against Israel.

Hizbullah rejects German ceasefire deal
JPost.com:

Germany has approached Israel and Hizbullah with a ceasefire deal, the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai Al-Aam reported.
Under the terms of the proposal, Hizbullah and Hamas would release the three captured IDF soldiers, and Israel would stop bombing Lebanon, withdraw from the Gaza Strip, and release the Hamas ministers arrested after Cpl. Gilad Shalit was kidnapped in June.

Really?
Lebanese PM Saniora: Hizbullah must be disarmed:

Hizbullah has created a "state within a state" in Lebanon and must be disarmed, Lebanese Prime Minister Fuad Saniora said in an interview published Thursday in an Italian daily.
Saniora told Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera that the Shi'ite group has been doing the bidding of Syria and Iran, and that it can only be disarmed with the help of the international community and once a cease-fire has been achieved in the current Middle East fighting.

"It's not a mystery that Hizbullah answers to the political agendas of Teheran and Damascus," Saniora was quoted as saying by Corriere. "The entire world must help us disarm Hizbullah. But first we need to reach a cease-fire."

Saniora has subsequently disavowed the comments above.

However, the Hezbollah leader who has been very visible in the past, is clearly laying low now, either dead or hiding.

Using vivid imagination, and hoping Israel achieved/achieves it's target when it comes to Hezbollah leadership and/or those perpetuating it.
