Whoa. Suprises.
Thank you. Common sense does still exist.
They don't have a great deal of respect for the collective intelligence of the right wing, do they.
I have less of a problem with someone who burns the flag in protest, than I have with someone who is ignorant of it's importance and leaves it lying on the ground.
The irony of this is, the person who desecrates the flag in protest and the person who revere's the flag are both aware of
it's significance.
But you don't support free speech anyway. You're the first person to become outraged and to demand the government crack skulls when the chokehold that atheism has on our public schools is challenged.
That would be the flag of Texas. Already protected.
Just try burning one there.
All I know is thats there is not a dimes worth of difference between pathetic little weasels like you, and the left, the rats, and liberals, who spend all of their time tearing down our President.
"Do you think federal prosecutors would cut me some slack if I were to get to it and burn it, claiming "freedom of speech?"
No, because you don't own the original document. If on the other hand you burn your own copy of the constitution, there would be no legal problem for you. It's about private property; if someone buys a flag they own it, and can do whatever they want with it.
By ONE vote!
Desecrate it in public, you should go to jail.
Same here. Hate to see the flag burned as much as anyone but it's what it stands for that counts and that's free speech and the 1st Amendment.
Yeah, sure.
It conveniently fails by one vote with McConnell casting a decisive vote.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it's a show vote. If not McConnell, they'd have volunteeed another sacrficial lamb. Or a Dem like Martinez from NJ would have voted no. Either way I do NOT believe we were one vote shy of passage.
Sorry, I'm not buying it.
If the Republicans want to run on this and blame Dems, they can do so. But don't expect me to believe they wanted it to pass and allowed McConnell and Bennett to vote No. Not that the Dems that voted for it should expect me to believe they wanted an amendment yes, you, Nelson in Florida and some others.
Though I AM looking with rapt attention upon McConnell, who would be Frist's successor, that voted for amnesty and now against this amendment. Sucking up to the RINO contingent? Swell. Really gives me hope for the next session of congress.
Lieberman D-CT voted against it. He always lines up with the Dem libs because he is one depite his rhetoric at times. Lieberman is a wasted hope IMO.
