CSI's Gary Sinise: Support Our Military Troops

(CBS4 News) WASHINGTON CSI star Gary Sinise was at the White House Monday but he wasn’t solving crimes, he was supporting American troops.

The actor was in our nation’s capitol to help President Bush spread the word about ‘America Supports You’, a Defense Department outreach program created to recognize citizens who support the military.

Sinise, who co-founded the Iraqi Children Fund; an ‘America Supports You’ organization that sends school supplies to students in Iraq, encouraged citizens to log on to the organization’s website to learn more about how they can help military men and woman and their families.

Lt. Dan, minus Forrest, reviews the troops USO tour

Actor Gary Sinise performed with his band for airmen and their families Wednesday night at Whiteman Air Force Base near Knob Noster, Mo.

The performance was the last stop of the actor’s 19th USO tour. Sinise and the “Lt. Dan Band” have been traveling to U.S. military bases when the actor has had free time from his role in the TV series “CSI: New York.”

Chopper, Inc.'s Billy Lane to Visit Troops in Germany

ARLINGTON, Va., June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Custom bike builder Billy Lane will depart on his first USO tour to Germany June 30. During the six-day tour, Lane will spend time with service members and their families at Vogelweh Military Complex as well as participate in July 4th celebrations at Spangdahlem Air Force Base, Baumholder Army Base and Ramstein Air Base. This tour is co-sponsored by Armed Forces Entertainment.

Lane has a long-standing respect for the armed forces. During a recent tour of bike rallies across the country, documented in the recently released DVD "Blood, Sweat, and Gears," Lane gave custom bikes to four service members. In addition, he has written two books, "Chop Fiction" and "How to Build Old School Choppers and Bobbers."

Jesse James went to Iraq too. The show was on a couple of weeks ago - it was pretty good.

That is really nice. He has really done much for the troops. Nice to see him with the President.

Wolfstar, thank you so much for posting this. I saw the president for a few minutes this morning before I left the house and was so pleased he met with Americans who are supporting our beloved military. I had wondered if Gary Senise was there; I really respect what Senise is doing and am glad to see he got to meet personally with the president.

I could only imagine how happy they were when Billy gave them the bikes.He builds some of the nicest bikes in the world.I bet the four of them together are worth more than $150 thousand dollars.
