#310, you guys are killing me today, having coughing fits from your one liners.....
Unfortunately the jihadis use the slightly more robust 7.62 mm round in their AKs.
I think we've gone beyond the point where "up armoring" everything is necessarily a good idea. I know folks who have been over (both Marines and Army) who wear the full up body armor as they leave on patrol then take off all but the "essential stuff" (deteremined by each guy) so that they have more freedom of movement. I've also heard complaints that the up-armored HUMVEEs aren't maneuverable enough. By the same token, if a troop wants to get some personal body armor or accept a modified helmet liner I would defer to their judgement. They're on the line.
Me? I'm holding out for the armored combat suits John Ringo (formerly of the 82nd) wrote about in his Aldenata books (starting with the free to download Gust Front and A Hymn Before Battle). Man sets off a pocket nuke by hand to bring down a bad guy battleship and lives to tell about it! Of course, he does have to regrow his arms and legs, but they've figured that out by then. If you enjoy SF you'll probably enjoy the books. His attitude is very much along our lines. He's also written several very good op-ed pieces for major newspapers which are available through his web site.
I am wondering if Soros is behind this insidious "World News Network" site...

I agree totally. My post wasn't a denial of his rabid tendencies since his political career began. It was more of a WTF is with good people after they enter the political arena. And how does an ex marine go so bad??
Politics seems to corrupt absolutely and totally.
Jefferson is guilty of money laundering for Nigerian aristocrats who likely skim a percentage off their oil exports through third party straw men. They've been doing it for years, and Jefferson skims a percentage off for himself and the Democrta party.
Why hasn't Jefferson been indicted ?????
The RINOs are cutting a deal. But Tom DeLay won't be let off for his maliciously motivated, trumped up charge of money laundering. The Dems and the RINOs want DeLay "Neut" ralized for the presidential erection cycle in which an old guard pubbie moderate RINO is supposed to be erected, not elected to the knighthood of the party instead of a conservative like Tom Delay. Both the Dems and The RINOs are afraid of Tom DeLay, who SHOULD be the next president of the United States.
Democrats are unusually stupid lately (say, since the early '70's). Usually, even stupid people learn quicker.
They look at the polls and---big/IF the President's approval ratings are accurately reflecting reality, the Dems seem to think people are going to restore them to power in November.
Now, I am not always happy with the President's every move, but even if I were a great deal unhappier, it's one thing to disapprove of him and quite another to vote Democratic.
I had a choice in '04, and I wouldn't have traded GWB for the best Democrat in America. (That would be Zell Miller.) It'll be the same in '06 for most Americans who will have the opportunity to stick with a flawed Republican or switch to a clueless jackass Democrat. The message they'll send to the Dems will be, "He spends my money and steps on my toes, but I'm not going home with you."
Who will be the first to play the "style over substance" card?
FYI, if I remember right, this was also discussed in Blackhawk Down. The same thing was going on in Somalia, where each person was making the decision between armour protection and ease of movement. I don't remember a specific but would not be surprised if the same issue wasn't addressed in Vietnam as well. I do know numerous Vietnam vets used personal weapons when going into the field, not relying on Army issue alone.
Just heard a soundbite from Murtha. Said President Bush should learn like Reagan did in Lebanon and Clinton did in Somalia.
#316, I am torn on this. I feel bad for an old fool that is sick and being used, but he is not the stand up patriot he pretends to be, and his chickens will come home to roost soon enough. We are all realizing now that he is losing his mental ability pretty fast now,but the Dems that know it don't care as long as they can use him and the Public does not get it yet. As soon as the bloggers pick up on it,the Public will get it too and the dems will kick him under the Bus because he will just be that senile old goat that nobody will pay any attention to about anything. If I was snarky and cruel like the dems, I would have the Pubbies set him up and make him really look like bats are flying out of his belfry, but he is close to that already.

You are hot today!(and soooo smooth!)
There are 4 categories, Yea, Nay, Present and Not Voting. Not really sure what the difference is.
What a monumental fool, Murtha expects to build our nations security on the weaknesses of defeatism.
Is there a law of treason on the books that has any HOOKS in it??
I didn't take it wrong, I was agreeing with you.
We have to keep in mind that not every veteran is a conservative Republican. Nor, to a man, does everyone in Iraq support President Bush. The majority, yes, but not all.
Murtha is a disgrace and it strikes that cord with most ex-military service men and women.
