Marines, Former Marines, Veterans, and Citizens are outraged at the desecration of the USMC Emblem as published in the Arizona Republic Newspaper 06/07/06.
Don't know how to post the picture but here is the link: (Perhaps someone can post it for me? and hotlinks for the email addresses to the parties concerned)

Crosseyed, wow...that's being pretty lenient...what this "cartoonist" did is an out an out afront to the standards of the corps...granted roughing the guy up might be extreme, but considering his opinion it would appear diplomacy has failed and extreme measures are reasonable.
Granted, he has the right under "free speech" to display his ignorance by his little cartoon...and publishers can decide in a testament of bad taste to run it, but there should be repercussion that should keep such acts of blatant dishonesty under control. Meaning, if he has the right to slander the corps...corps member should have the right to take him to task with a boot in the ass...or at least legal action. Perhaps that is what he wants or, perhaps, he feels that since what he draws isnt true...he has nothing to worry about...either way the press is no longer civil in this country and it's time we stop pretending that they are and meet them with the neccessary force to keep them honest, and if that is what they want, let's give it to them. Their (cartonists/journalists of Benson's ilk) actions embolden our enemies over seas, and that must be dealt with accordingly.
Ahhhh...history 101, what did the colonialists due in 1775 to (British loyalist) newspapers that, after numerous warnings, slandered those that lead the cause for independence and liberty in the US?
What happened in WWII to those that slandered the cause of troops over seas? And better yet...were there any papers that did?
Thanks In Hoc.
Great 'editing' FRiend!
I think that is part of the reason for extreme liberalism. Far-left liberals are generally rebels against the established economic system and long-standing traditions in America. That could certainly be a response to rejection by the most popular group of kids at school in early years.
I just gave the woman who answered the phone a piece of my mind and the little wench HUNG UP ON ME!
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
freaking OUTRAGED!
The people that will do this sort of thing KNOW that there will be little chance of physical harm come to them. If they wanted to pick fights and wait for reactions, they would publish cartoons of Moooooohamid.
Benson self-identifies as an atheist and is often the target of those who advocate ultra-conservative anti-secular views.
Benson's more controversial cartoons include one that depicts a firefighter carrying an child from the Oklahoma City bombing similar to a well-known photo of a firefighter's futile rescue of 1-year old Baylee Almon. The child in the cartoon says, "Please, no more killing..." to which the firefighter, labeled "Death Penalty Fanatics," replies, "Quit your whining!" The cartoon, published June 11, 1997, angered some firefighters nationwide. Almon's mother called for Benson to apologize for using the image. Benson, however, stood firm even as his paper issued an apology for printing the cartoon.
Benson is the grandson of former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture and former LDS church president Ezra Taft Benson.
Late in 1993, Benson publicly left the LDS Church after claiming that its leadership was covering up his grandfather's senility and allowing church members to believe Ezra Taft Benson was still in charge of the church's day-to-day affairs.
THIS IS PURE LIBERAL BULLSHIT
I live in the Phoenix, Arizona area. The Arizona Republic is a miserable left wing piece of crap of a newspaper. You won't have much luck calling them.
Besides the links by: Tarantulas #107 and PleaDeal #136
I suggest to also email all conservative local radio hosts in Phoenix, Arizona station KFYI. Conservative radio talk show host "Bruce Jacobs In The Morning" has a running feud going with AZ Republic and I'm sure would give ample air time. Matter of fact, all of station KFYI has been at odds with the AZ Republic rag. Also you can email KFYI Barry Young, and Joe Crummey. Plus email Clear Channel National Radio Talk Show Host Rush Limbaugh. Send an attachment of the drawing made by Steve Benson with your comments to:

"I am even gayer than this fruity award they gave me!"
Dead on right!
If that were true, how come Harry Reid is still in good standing with the church?
And Steve Benson is the perfect left wing crapweasel to be working for them.
I met Montini once, same story. Actually, you can pretty much just write off the entire Az. Republic. Phoenix was a great place to be up until maybe the late 80s early 90s. Now it's another nice place to be from.
