"Ann's a big success because she has that courage, more than O'Reilly will ever have. " O'Reilly could only dream of filling Ann's jock.

I missed the whole controversy, was on a working vacation of sorts, but when I heard of it first recently, I, of course, was aghast. Ann had flipped out again. Of course, all I saw was the MSM coverage, I was unable to freep. I KNEW, however, that I should withhold some judgement until I read here on FR. Now that I have read the entire "exchange", I must say, that while I still often cringe when she speaks, she is usually right. I'll wuss out by saying I wish she had used kinder words, but she is 100% right, for all the reasons espoused here and on other threads. I am so sick of victimhood politics. Have been even back when I was a Democrat.

Just as Berg uses the best part of him (His heroric son) to get attention. Huh? Not to speak ill of the man, but what exactly did Nick Berg do that was heroic?

Ann Coulter is right.
I sincerely doubt the media and the politicians will be able to force her into a noxious PC public apology.
People often forget she was a lawyer, before she became a pundit...
I hope the backlash bites every RINO big time.
The "big tent" badly needs an airing when truth and substance is aggressively and pointedly ignored, and the incomprehensible, illogical, liberal elitist definition of "polite public discourse" becomes the accepted measuring rod.

A good read, and a fine analysis of the emotive core of liberal "argument".
Ann, of course, is right. I am just surprised that not more 'get it'.
What about all the widows (and widowers) of police/fire/EMS killed in the line of duty,(just not on 9/11), not to mention the widows of memebers of the armed forces who will likely never be millionaires as a result of their spouses' being in harms' way that one last time?
I am not saying there was no upheaval, no grief, but there were a lot who lost loved ones who did not go on a political crusade against the administration over it.
But if they attemptto support the administration, or publicly praise the actions of their loved one in refutation of the liberals' playing the dog-eared grief card as if it were the trump to end all trumps, they get shouted down just as Ann is.
I am in awe of the mock outrage of the press and pundits jumping on the 'jump on Ann Colter' bandwagon--as if they have never milked grief for ratings. Gimme a break, If it bleeds, it leads, right?
I honestly hope she is chuckling wherever she hangs her hat tonight, at all these numbskulls proving her case.

I'd say being in Iraq voluntarily would count as such an action. Sure, he didn't fire rounds toward the enemy, but neither did a lot of my fellow soldiers who've been there.

Nice post!
I can now come out of the closet and voice my political... um... discomfort with these women.
And with the cheapening of the term "war hero" by sKerry and Cleland, so much so that it means next to nothing when it is invoked for Murtha's media posturing.
And with Cindy's shameless pandering act.
And with the Wellstone fune-rally. Etc.

"
They join the liberals in attacking Coutler for malfeasance of rhetoric; in this, conservatives are showing classic symptoms of Battered Spouse Syndrome. Huddled in a defensive crouch, they labor to prove that they are too decent, they are so sympathetic -- they attack Coulter to prove their own chivalric honor. They become "enablers" of liberal griefarazzi."
A crock. I am confident Conservatives could field better reasoned counterpoints to Liberalism than that of Coulter's.
