An Iraqi customs agent secretly working with Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's terror cell spilled the beans on the group after he was arrested, Jordanian officials tell ABC News.
Ziad Khalaf Raja al-Karbouly was arrested by Jordanian intelligence forces last spring.
Officials say Karbouly confessed to his role in the terror cell and provided crucial information on the names of Zarqawi commanders and locations of their safe houses.
Karbouly also admitted to his role in the kidnappings of two Moroccan embassy employees, four Iraqi National Guards and an Iraqi finance ministry official.
In a videotaped confession, Karbouly said he acted on direct orders from Zarqawi.
Officials say he will not be eligible for any of the $25 million reward money.

I'm under no illusions that the King of Jordan is a good friend or anything, but we can work together if our goals coincide.
It's all business.

The United States and Bush must reverse the death of Zarqawi due information obtained through illegal torture and the absence of any warrant to bomb a safehouse full of innocent citizens of Iraq. Sincerely, the ACLU.

"Whoever it is will never have the level of loyalty Zarqawi commanded, as imperfect as we now know that was." Dan Rather has already sent his resume. Granted, his 'hands-on' terrorism experience may be limited, but his work at the Ministry of Propaganda has been exemplary.

Ziad Khalaf Raja al-Karbouly was arrested by Jordanian intelligence forces last spring. How would some one arrested last spring know wher Zarqawi was going to be on a certain day in the future.
That means we had to have some one watching all the safe houses and reporting when Zarqawi showed up.
It took a lot more than a guy revealing safe houses to take Zarqawi down.
It would bet there is a ton of misinformation being put out. If we do have them compromised in some way, we would not want those remaining to know it. We would want them to believe that a person whose information ended months ago was the source.
That would lead them to believe anything created after this guy was captured is safe. I would bet it is not.

Suppose torture was used by the Jordanians? Naaaaaaa.
Torture doesn't get results . . . or so we are consistently told.

I wonder how they got him to talk? Could they possibly have violated his civil rights and/or used coercive tactics? Inquiring minds want to know!

If there's any reasonable way we can pay it out to someone, we should. It would go a long way in demonstrating our good faith, and encourage folks to tip us off to other high-profile dirtbags.

A very good Arab friend of mine, said this to me the day Zarqawi bombed the hotels in Jordon, "the Jordanians will hunt him down and kill him." He almost got it right. They hunted him down for us and we killed him.

That question is indicative of the most actual critical thinking done so far in the replies on this thread.
What the article couldn't really spell out was exactly what information provided by this guy allowed them to infiltrate the organization. Other rumors floating around right now is that once they were able to id Z.'s holy man that was what eventually enabled them to get him. Maybe the holy man's name what the tidbit that this guy provided.

I thought this sentence in the story pretty much covered that. Keep an eye on those named and the places identified as "safe" houses, and go from there. Yes, it took a while, but it was probably the starting point that was necessary to finally nail this pig.
