Nancy Pelosi: Zarqawi Death Changes Nothing
NewsMax ^ | 9 June 2006

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is warning Americans not to get too excited over the death of Abu Musab al Zarqawi, saying in a statement issued by her office Thursday that it really won't do much to improve the situation in Iraq.

After briefly noting that she was "proud of our troops for their tireless work," the top House Democrat wasted no time in throwing cold water on the good news.

"[Zarqawi's] death does not alter the fact that our brave men and women in uniform are fighting a war of choice in which the President sent our troops into harm's way without a plan for victory and without leveling with the American people," she complained.

"Several hours after Zarqawi's death, 19 Iraqis were killed and 40 were wounded in a roadside bombing in Baghdad," the San Francisco Democrat noted. "These deaths are a stark reminder of the ongoing violence facing our brave men and women in uniform."

Pelosi said she still agreed with Rep. John Murtha that the U.S. should pull out of Iraq, then added: "Zarqawi's death should be a resounding call to President Bush and the Republican Congress that we must have a serious debate about U.S. policy in Iraq."

Pelosi is the best gift to the Republicans to be the potential Speaker, should Democrats win. She'll keep Republicans and moderates galvanized, to keep her uber-liberal hands off the steering wheel.

That must have hurt. I suppose she wants a pat on the back for publicly saying something so utterly revulsive to her.

"[Zarqawi's] death does not alter the fact that our brave men and women in uniform are fighting a war of choice in which the President sent our troops into harm's way without a plan for victory and without leveling with the American people," she complained.

If this were the 70's or the 80's and you changed the name to Brezhnev or Andropov, this could have been a communique straight out of the Kremlin itself. It's absolutely appalling that a member of the U.S. Government could be so blatantly anti-American as this.

Go to hell, Pelosi. Our troops will get the job done, with or without your 'help'.

The Dems would have been better off if a term limits constitutional amendment had been adopted. The Dems who would take over have been in Washington two decades or more. If there were term limits, they would have some fresh faces. Why would anyone want to hand over Congress to Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Charlie Rangel, et al?

Term limits AND mandatory retirement age. There are just too many politicians in D.C. that are suffering from acute senility. They are taking up valuable space. Of course, it will never happen.

It wasn't long ago, all we heard from the liberals was "Where is Bin Ladin?",
"Our troops are dying and Bush still can't find Bin ladin", "This war can't be
won until we find Bin Ladin" etc etc ad nauseam.

My question is, if capturing or killing this one man was so important to
winning the war on terror, why are they now saying that killing the most
dangerous leader of terrorism in iraq 'means nothing'?

I suspect that when Bin Laden is finally eliminated, the liberal mantra will be
the same as it is with Zarqawi's death...it means nothing.

The reason that Bin Ladin is seemingly so important to leftists is that they still view terrorism like an act of vandalism - they want to prosecute those responsible and call it done.

They really, still, cannot fathom the paradigm shift that occurred post 9/11 where we are in a preventative mode instead of a reactive mode.

This, and the fact that they can't stomach military action, and want to get back to sticking their heads in the sand and spending on socialist programs instead of the military.

Allow me to give you a sneak peak at tomorrow's New York Times headline:

HERO TO MANY BRUTALLY SLAIN
AL-ZARQAWI, FREEDOM FIGHTER FOR IRAQ, MURDERED BY AMERICAN INVADERS

Bakura, Iraq (AP) -- In what can be best described as yet another horrific American atrocity, Mohammad al-Zarqawi was murdered in cold blood by American troops. Followers of the bold and forward-thinking man stated that he made no provocational actions towards these troops, and described their actions as barbaric and senseless.

"Why would you kill such a man," lamented one follower, "he was only playing with some kittens on the rug at the time! This is a far greater atrocity than Hadditha!"

Several Democrat Congressional and Senatorial representatives have called for immediate hearings to see if the American forces can be charged under UMJC law for the bloodletting, pointing out that these forces in no way tried to negotiate or coax Al-Zarqawi out. Nancy Pelosi asked, "Doesn't America DESERVE all the terrorism we are getting? Shouldn't we be HELPING al-Qaeda? We need to destroy this country of ours, this Great Satan!"

(continued on page A-8)

Maybe she should set down and have a few more conversations with Eleanor Roosevelt to find her way again.

"...(Democrat, Louisiana)"

I thought that went without saying. ;)

No, no, it's said it all in one breath, as if it's his whole name: William-Jefferson-Democrat-Louisiana. The country must know who's side he is on...always. :)

It makes me all the more excited and encouraged about sending Z-man to his dirt nap, when Pelosi is trying to tell me I shouldn't be.

In fact, I'm darned near euphoric.
