House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi is warning Americans not to get too excited over the death of Abu Musab al Zarqawi, saying in a statement issued by her office Thursday that it really won't do much to improve the situation in Iraq.
After briefly noting that she was "proud of our troops for their tireless work," the top House Democrat wasted no time in throwing cold water on the good news.
"[Zarqawi's] death does not alter the fact that our brave men and women in uniform are fighting a war of choice in which the President sent our troops into harm's way without a plan for victory and without leveling with the American people," she complained.
"Several hours after Zarqawi's death, 19 Iraqis were killed and 40 were wounded in a roadside bombing in Baghdad," the San Francisco Democrat noted. "These deaths are a stark reminder of the ongoing violence facing our brave men and women in uniform."
Pelosi said she still agreed with Rep. John Murtha that the U.S. should pull out of Iraq, then added: "Zarqawi's death should be a resounding call to President Bush and the Republican Congress that we must have a serious debate about U.S. policy in Iraq."
"What kind of nonsensical illogic enables people to claim there is no connection between the war in Iraq and the war on terrorism?"
Exactly. Why don't or can't they get it that Islam is at war with Western civilization? It's not just Iraq or Afghanistan, it's Islam vs the entire West and civilization. Is that so hard?
I guess to be a Democrat leader a person has to be certifiably stupid.

Again snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, the inept White House PR machine will again do nothing to counter the leftist propaganda that we should leave Iraq, leaving unchallenged the socialists coordinated response to the events of yesterday.
This President has demonstrated that he is absoulutely clueless when it comes to dealing with his domestic enemies on the left, de facto allies of the ragheads in that they are more effective at destroying our will to fight than some smelly one eyed subhuman towelhead camel jockey could ever hope to be.
Hard to believe that it has been less than 5 years since 9/11 and more than half of the population want us out of Iraq and Afghanistan and believe that there were no WMD.
The propaganda of the left has been unbelievably effective, they are running around with straight faces saying Iraq has nothing to do with the WOT, and people are buying into it.
The American left should be assailed by this President, its political leaders shamed and silenced and its propagandists in the press jailed .
W ought to make a speech calling for support for the war and branding the Democrats as the best hope of the enemy.
Instead you hear silence out of the White House.

Rush was wrong on one point though. He said they wouldn't start talking like that until today (Friday), but it looks like Pelosi couldn't wait.
She probably listened to the show and shot her mouth off early just to prove Rush wrong.

Ol' Zarqawi might disagree on that point, that is , if he could.
A murderous bastard like him is taken out and they won't admit for one moment that it's a good thing.
The lefties are eaten up with hatred of our military and our country.
Bush will bring the troops home when the job is done. If the Donks want to claim victory over the President at that point, fine. At least the job will be done.
Results are more important than politics. Success in politics is a tool one uses to achieve results. The Donks have it exactly wrong. They think that engineering failure for the United States is a tool to help them achieve political success.
This attitude should be poisonous to every American.
This is why the dems will not take either chamber and why they will be rlegated to minority status. too quick to cut and run from a fight. that's not the American way. But her statement confuses me. Last year, iraq was a failure and we must leave. now it's a success that we can now leave.
