CAIRO, Egypt
Al-Qaida in Iraq confirmed the death of its leader, Abu Musab al- Zarqawi, and vowed it will continue its "holy war" in a statement posted on the Web on Thursday.
"We want to give you the joyous news of the martyrdom of the mujahed sheik Abu Musab al-Zarqawi," said the statement, signed by "Abu Abdel- Rahman al-Iraqi," identified as the deputy "emir" or leader of al- Qaida in Iraq.
"The death of our leaders is life for us. It will only increase our persistence in continuing holy war so that the word of God will be supreme," it said.
I think anyone of us could have written what they'd say before they did.
Nothing to see here folks, move along.
What would be the emotional response of the average citizen of Iraq about this news, I wonder......?? I would think it would be looked upon cautiously as good news, but not any euphoric outbursts as it may just fuel even more the zealousness of those disgruntled with the presence of foreign troops??
As a Marine once said: "It's God's job to judge him, it's my job to arrange the meeting!"
AWR, Allah's Waiting Room.
i wonder what % of average citizens are building car bombs and firing ak's id really like to know that %
LOL! Literally.
Re: their statement--it's all about the spin.
To which the Liberal Media Establishment (LaME) responds: we vow to continue helping them until they win!
RIA Novisti suggests Abdullah bin Rashid al-Baghdadi replaced Zarqawi as the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq back in April.

This is interesting because I could swear I heard on FNC this morning that Rahman was killed as well.
Militant Islam is a deadly plague, and Muslims are the sole carriers.

This Abu guy has just identified himself as a leader. Hope he really wants that martyrdom cause he's probably gonna get it before long. Meanwhile, lets all Par-tay over this joyous news.
I absolutely have no respect for any group that thinks blowing up civilians, unarmed women and children, is some how a 'just' means to satisfy "God's wishes".....What a lie of a smokescreen for nothing but a lust for power, control, wealth, and in the commission of nothing but evil.
I don't think he understands why his statment is true.
Letter from Usama Bin Ladin:
Greetings my fellow Al-Qaida followers. As your supreme leader in our fight against the enemy, I must inform you that we have lost our dear brother Abu Musab al- Zarqawi. Just to let all who follow the cause, there will be a memorial/celebration service planned in Ramalah this Friday afternoon. We look forward to celebrating the martyrdoom of our dear brother. Now he is rewarded with seven-two virgins.
I urge ALL Al-Qaida supporters to be in attendance, in Ramalah this Friday afternoon. I look forward to seeing you there.
Also, please bring your laptops as I will be passing out a dvd of some of our departed brothers finest moments. It turned out pretty good. It's got that song "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong playing in the background as pictures of him change on the screen. Very touching.
Once again ALL Al-Qaida supporters are commanded to be in Ramalah on Friday afternoon.
Sincerly, UBL, ;-)
"I guess one of his aides will be promoted."
At this rate, the night janitor at the Iraqi AQ headquarters will be promoted to the top position.
Well I sure do appreciate it and here's hoping for more "joyous news" in the future.
