PROVIDENCE, R.I. U.S. Rep. Patrick Kennedy said Monday he was feeling good after nearly a month in drug rehabilitation and was looking forward to getting back to work.
"I can tell you today, I feel confident about my health, positive about my future, and passionate about my work representing the people of Rhode Island," the Rhode Island Democrat said in a speech at Brown University on the future of mental health care and addiction treatment.
It was his first public appearance since being released Friday from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
The six-term congressman checked into the clinic on May 5, one day after a middle-of-the-night car crash near the U.S. Capitol that he said he could not remember. He also had been treated at the clinic over the Christmas holidays.
Kennedy called the accident "a wake up call" and said he was grateful he did not hurt anyone.

Now, if only we could get his father into rehab...

I give him 6 weeks before he has another episode....

One month of rehab for a repeat offender. Yeah, that'll do it.

Anybody know anybody who was successful at rehab in that short of a time?
Just enough time to get out of the headlines and bury it - home free -
and McKinney, same thing.

How come a Democrat gets to go to rehab and keep his job?
(And have so much sympathetic press?)
If a conservative were that much of a menace to society, he'd be crucified.

He served his time, one month and probably in a luxurious hotel.
