Illegals' tax deal could kill bill

The long-fought Senate immigration bill that opponents say grants amnesty to 10 million illegal aliens is unconstitutional and appears headed for certain demise, Senate Republicans now say. A key feature of the Senate bill is that it would make illegals pay back taxes before applying for citizenship, a requirement that supporters say will raise billions of dollars in the next decade. There's just one problem: The U.S. Constitution specifically prohibits revenue-raising legislation from originating in the Senate.

"Whatever" including Chuck Schumer putting a bullet between Bush's eyes? You guys are really reaching now. First of all I am one person. Second of all...What the fudge are you talking about? I firmly believe that it will be the inability of the House to agree with the Senate version that will kill it. But anything that kills it is good.

"That's right - no U.S. citizen ever makes / sells crack cocaine or any other drug - keep the stereotypes flowing"
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
Did we hurt your feelings?
Don't worry.
Uncle McCain or even better Uncle Ted The Swimmer will come comfort ya.
Ummm.. that crack about crack, did you know that most of the cocaine in this country (over 75%) comes through Mexico?
Not all, just most.

Agree completely. Now witness what California is about to do with respect to the electoral college - their votes go to the candidate with the most votes in the election.
All this to enhance their influence, which couldn't be already greater.

That's right - the U.S. Constitution has never stopped "these people" - which is why Bush just announced that he revoked the 22nd Amendment. Be very scared . . .

"And, how many U.S. citizens (including Catholic priests based in the U.S.) committed sex crimes in the same time period? "
The code word being "U.S. citizens".
Every country has people who commit crimes.
Its part of life.
What we don't want, is criminals from Mexico coming here to flood the country with cocaine and murder and rape Americans.
We want Mexican criminals right where they belong..in their own country.

And, I said "Keep the stereotypes flowing" - my point is that regardless of where the drugs are coming from, the vast majority of drug dealers AND users are U.S. citizens - won't stop you guys from somehow bashing illegal aliens though.

It is a shellgame intended to muddle the issues.
There is no way the illegals making minimum wage or less will pay in enough to the SS system to save it -- became, when they retire, they will also be withdrawing from it.
The fines will not even pay for the paperwork to get green cards.

Rush Limbaugh published a lengty article about the ramifications:

I'm not a Limbaugh-bot, but he has an eye-opening perspective in that lengthy analysis.

With the immigration bill, we are being sold a bill of goods.

The 'Immigration Bill' is the big lie that the Senate and the White House are trying to sell us now.

Your response to 2NY's remark didn't make sense:
hey...whatever can kill this awful bill.
Evidently you didn't read the article, which doesn't mention anything about the Supreme Court overturning any compromise bill.

The McCain/Kennedy Senate Amnesty Bill is dead either way.
The illegals are the ones who should be worrying.

P.S. - I'm fine with the government catching, convicting, and executing that tiny percentage of illegal aliens.

P.P.S. - see me after the compromise bill gets passed ; )

The whole point of hiring illegals in the first place is cheap labor. I've heard some anecdotes here in the DC Metro area which don't support the "cheap labor" argument. Like employers who can't keep "native" Americans in manual labor jobs for more than a couple weeks or months, or newspaper ads that go unanswered for weeks at $14 and $15 an hour.
Which is why I support GWB's original and *minimalist* "temporary worker" proposal from January 2004. Not this insane mess the Senate has produced.

***Actually, it means another wave of illegals to replace the ones "shamnestied."***
Right. Then they become 'legal', so they'll have to be replaced by MORE illegals, who'll then become legal, requiring MORE illegals etc, etc, etc, .......
Ergo, I think it would be easier, and more cost effective, to just bring back slavery. After all, that seems to be the argument of the open borders crowd and 'business' - we can't survive without illegals who make slave wages.
So lets cut to the chase and make them slaves. At least then they'll have permanent jobs and a roof always over their head. And according to the illegals they're here for the jobs, not citizenship, so they shouldn't mind - they'd have their jobs.
~~~open borders - we need illegals, mocking OFF~~~
"my point is that regardless of where the drugs are coming from, the vast majority of drug dealers AND users are U.S. citizens "
Ummm..because there are more Americans in this country than anyone else?
This is America after all.
When you go to China the "vast majority of drug dealers and users" are Chinese. Same with Russia.. Same with every country.
The point being, the drugs have to come from somewhere before some poor kid in the Bronx deals on the streets.
And for the most part, cocaine is flooding into this country through the Mexican borders, with the full support of corrupt Mexican police and government officials.
