RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- Rod Brind'Amour was the do-everything captain for the Carolina Hurricanes all season. It was most fitting that his goal put them into the Stanley Cup finals.

Brind'Amour's third-period goal snapped a tie and sent the Hurricanes into the championship round Thursday night with a 4-2 victory over the Buffalo Sabres in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals.

More good news from tonight's Yankees game.

The Yankees were without All-Star closer Mariano Rivera, who injured his back while putting on his spikes before the game.

"He had one shoe on, and when he went to put the left shoe on, something spasmed," Yankees manager Joe Torre said before the game. "It's something new every day."

Yanks blow lead, lose in the ninth.

If Hillary were to somehow get elected president, that could turn into a full-blown curse on the whole nation.

Yep. It was like the curse of Kennedy over the Red Sox, relayed by Neal Boortz as the curse of Chapaquiddick.

This has been on my Freeper home page for some time now

The Hillary Curse Oct 2000.. . .The Yanks last won a World Series defeating the New York Mets in five games.

Nov. 2000....New York elects Hillary Clinton, an Illinois native who declares herself "A lifelong Yankees fan," to the Senate.

Since then it's been a series of disappointments:

2001: The usually reliable Mariano Rivera gets roughed up in the 9th inning of game 7 and the Yankees lose the World Series to Arizona Diamondbacks.

2002: An 8 run 5th inning finishes the Yankees as they Lose the Division Series to Anaheim Angels in four.

2003: Lost World Series to Florida Marlins in six in which the Marlins become the first opposing team to win the World Series at Yankee Stadium since 1981.

2004: In the biggest choke in sports history, After being up 3-0, the Yankees lose the next four and lose the Championship Series to Red Sox in seven.

2005: Yankees bat 0.194 with runners in scoring position and lose Division Series to Anaheim Angels in five.

Coincidence? I Think not

You may be on to something. Think about what the Clinton's did to the Serb's in Kosovo. There you got it.

Rather than "The Hillary Curse," this is actually called "The Curse of the Hildabeast."

the Buffalo Sabres were eliminated from Stanley Cup contention with their 4-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, who are now on their way to the finals.

Does this mean John Edwards will run in 2008?

Really classy Yankees fans serenade a Sox fan as he goes through the bleachers at Y. Stadium (strong language)

" A Red Sox fan with a video camera makes his way through the Yankee Stadium bleachers, and the Yankee fans show him no mercy."

Could it be just that the Yank-offs are a team of over-the-hill, past-their-prime, prima donnas run by a megalomaniac from Ohio?

Roddy Brind'Amour is an awesome player. I'm still depressed that our hapless Flyers let him go.
