The Hillary Curse continues. Everyone knows of the Curse of the Bambino foisted on long suffering Boston Red Sox fans until finally vanquished in 2004. I've been tracking The Hillary Curse. What is that, you may ask?

Well, ever since the voters of New York saw fit to alect Hillary Clinton as their Senator in 2000, no New York professional team has won any championship.

Yep, go check for yourselves. Not the vaunted Yankees, Mets, Rangers, Knicks, Jets or Giants have won the ultimate prize; God's little payback for the b*itch.

Tonight, 2 days after the Democratic convention in Buffalo, NY, the Buffalo Sabres were eliminated from Stanley Cup contention with their 4-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, who are now on their way to the finals.

You know, I actually like some of the Yankees (like Bernie Williams, Derek Jeter, Joe Torre, etc.) but I really can't stand Sheffield. Nor Juice-ambi, nor A-Fraud...

We'll be at Camden Yards this weekend... rooting against the Yankees! We'll do our best to try to spill beer on Johnny DEmon. Let's go O's! ;-D

This is shaping up as an interesting situation in the AL East. Yanks, Sox and Jays are hurting on some level. Seems to me whoever gets healthy by August will be in the best position to take it. I saw some good signs in the Jays series. Home runs by the Sox and some solid relief pitching (outside of Riske) plus just some amazing defense in the infield. (I'll forgive the outfield mistakes as baseball belongs outdoors and on real grass). Wells just had one of those games that I have seen really great hitters like Manny, Ortiz and Nomar have before. If he can turn on a 96 mph pitch high at the letters and take it out then tip your cap to him. Ortiz however, made a good point that once he hits a home run he won't see anything close to a good pitch the rest of the game.

Also, Matt Clement is hurt both in the ankle and upstairs. It's time for Theo to send him back to the NL and eat some of the cost. It's a different world outside of Boston and over there with no DH and really, no pressure to perform like you do in the AL East.

I'm also not convinced that Pauly is all that bad either. His curveball wasn't working last time around but neither was Ted Lily's and we have all seen too many games where he has shut the Sox down altogether. If he can give the Sox 5-6 innings an outing with a minimal amount of walks then he cannot be worse than Head Case Clement.

Rod Brind'Amour was the do-everything captain for the Carolina Hurricanes all season. It was most fitting that his goal put them into the Stanley Cup finals.

Roddy Brind'Amour is an awesome player. I'm still depressed that our hapless Flyers let him go.

I am NESN-deprived in our Stamford, CT-area hotel, but just saw (on MLB Gameday) that YOUK hit a homer and Papelbon got yet another save. Nice work by the Red Sox! ;-)

Meanwhile, I believe the Yanks and Blue Jays are winning... :-(

We'll be rooting for the O's tomorrow afternoon and on Sunday...

Schilling pitched very well-6 innnings, 2 ER, 8 K's 0 BB, Ortiz just missed popping 2 2 run HR the inning before Youk did, the ump punched Manny out on low pitches--2x's, Tek and Nixon and their damned upper cut swings, Mikey Lowell had 3 hits and Papelbon's Splitter was DEVASTATING!!!!

Tigers Rogers pitched very well, their closer left a pitch inner half of the plate and Youk drove it out. Youk redeemed himself from a couple of strike outs and an error in the bootom of the 8th that could have been fatal.

Crisp looked pretty good tonight as well.
