BAGHDAD, Iraq, May 28 — Hiba Abdullah survived the killings by American troops in Haditha last Nov. 19, but said seven others at her father-in-law's home did not. She said American troops shot and killed her husband, Rashid Abdul Hamid. They killed her father-in-law, Abdul Hamid Hassan Ali, a 77-year-old in a wheelchair, shooting him in the chest and abdomen, she said.

Let me tell you... When I first saw this on NBC Nightly News... My Bull Chit meter swung clear over to the peg when the words at the bottom of the video taped interview with the young girl "survivor" said "Hamurrabi Human Righs Group."

I'm sorry, but ever heard of the Hamurrabi Code? Hamurrabi(not certain of spelling) was an ancient middle eastern king that developed one of the first sets of laws known to mankind. This group has conveniently adopted his name to lend credibility to it's otherwise un-checked "credibility" that I call into question!!!

I still dismiss this as either a frame-up or pure propaganda by either insurgents, Al Quida in Iraq, or a desperate MSM that so terribly wishes to discredit this war, all war and the United States in particular for not having learned that the MSM can cause the USA to lose ANY war the MSM wants to make it lose!!!

It might be another Mi Lai, but right now, with the main report filtered through an un-named Iraqi historian, it smells more like another Racak or Sarajevo Market.

(Lest anyone forget the 'atrocity' used to justify Clinton's bombing campaign against Serbia was a fake, put up by Muslim Albanians, and independent (Japanese!) investigators concluded that the Muslim Bosnians shelled their own people to provoke NATO intervention).

Lets put it this way, Sen. Murtha is now a big hero over here.

What Murtha says is being played and replayed endlessly in the local media in both Malaysia and Indonesia.

What Sen. Murtha alleges has set off a frenzy of extrapolation in the local media and among the citizens here who are now seeing this as the desperate acts of US Marines who have been losing the war up to now.

The fire is starting to burn out of control - many of the sympathizers here are salivating seeing this as the proverbial "nail in the coffin" of America's military involvment in Iraq.

Another Mai Lai is what it is being called.

Thank you for giving us a first hand account of how REP. Murtha's remarks are being received over there. He has become a one man wrecking ball.

Some in Congress fear the killings could do greater harm to the image of the United States military around the world than the Abu Ghraib prison scandal.

IF they really did this without cause this statement could be true and those involved should be punished. BUT what I don't understand is the lack of coverage regarding the murder of Iraqi-muslim civilians by the insurgents. Where is the call for outrage against them by the rest of the world?

Murtha's not a senator, he's a Congressman. And hopefully not even that starting in January.

My theory is further supported by the fact, reported by the media in the run-up to the liberation of Iraq, that Saddam had accumulated a number of counterfeit US uniforms to be used by his people in a number of ways. Committing atrocities and then framing US troops for them in terrorist controlled areas would be a perfect way to use such uniforms. This would be particularly effective if the alleged witnesses were already terrorists themselves or terrorist sympathizers and the people who were killed were suspected supporters of the liberation and their families. Such tactics are certainly not beneath Saddam and the terrorists; indeed they are the very things they would love to do. They are also the very kind of things traitors like Murtha and the MSM would love to use to discredit the entire war effort. Before anyone even suspects those Marines of this group of killings, this hypothesis must be fully checked out and disproved.
