As throngs came to the hallowed grounds of Arlington National Cemetery to honor the fallen on Memorial Day, a handful of protesters from an anti-gay group stood across a four-lane highway from a conservative group supporting the troops.

A Marine lance corporal in uniform, passing by on the sidewalk, suddenly lunged toward one of the church protesters. A policeman put his arm around the Marine and led him away before there was any physical contact.

Yeah, the Marine chose to stop, because of the respect he has for law enforcement, because a cop putting his arm around a Marine isn't going to stop him.

Thing about the marine is, had he jumped in and taken a few swings, even if he wasn't arrested, he ran the risk of lawsuits by these goofballs. And sadly they might have won.

This tells me so much about the anti-war protestors. No class whatsoever.

They do not grasp the concept of Memorial Day, they do not realize some of the people were going to the graves of family, it is not just a ceremony. What should be a time of reflection for all Americans is turned into a circus by these people. If the Marine had been physical with the protestors they would have been gleeful, would have used the incident to further their cause.

My feelings go back to the Vietnam War protestors, when I felt they were not just anti-war, but just plain anti-military. The protestors now say they support the troops, yeah- that's the way to support the troops- protesting on Memorial Day. Same old, same old- cannot for one minute admit their true beliefs.

Every time I think I have seen the ultimate in stupid, someone or some group manages to break through the ceiling to new heights of stupidity.

I've seen these photos before but this guy isn't Democrat, Republican, left or right. Can you show me anything where he's been hanging out with or donating to either party recently?

Do you watch CSI: new york? If so, that demonstration by Mack Taylor of Marine hand-to-hand a couple of weeks back was just scary. There is no way to defeat a Marine hand to hand unless you're his opposite number from another branch/country or a black belt in karate.

Not that I expect these people to act remotely rational, but I wonder about the "Bush killed them" sign. I though their position was that god killed these guys. Are they saying Bush is God, or are they saying Bush is the leader of the buttpumping lobby and ticked God off? Both are dubious positions to say the least.
