YAKIMA In an unexpected move, the state Republican Party on Saturday adopted a platform that states children of illegal immigrants should not be allowed to become United States citizens.
The platform, at least with respect to the children of illegal immigrants, goes further than measures currently under consideration in the Congress. The 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution recognizes citizenship for all persons born in the United States.

Wrong Rob, It's the elected Republicans who don't pay much attention to the platform.
In spite of all the dirty tricks, closed meetings, a rigged platform committee, etc., justice finally prevailed at the state convention. The Eastern Washingtonians with their common sense saved the day. There is a struggle to the death going on here for the heart, soul and control of the state party. The pro-illegal forces (very powerful here) are not happy campers tonight. GOOD!

Illegals are not subject to U.S. jurisdiction. If they were they would be thrown out.

The pollster the Seattle Times (and the Republican Party) uses is/was married to a big-name Democrat in Seattle. He beats his chest that he's unbiased, but somehow his polls always favor the Libs. (Than again, as far Left as Seattle is, he may have a problem finding somebody sane.)

Sure you do. You also believe a candidate that cheats their way into the Governor's mansion should be certified. No wonder you think people that cheat their way into our country should have their children rewarded.

Considering most of them are illegal and the rest support the illegality no wonder.
McKenna said he doubted the party's positions on immigration would have much effect one way or the other in the coming election. "By and large, voters don't pay much attention to the platform," he said.
Yeah, that's why the past two elections were nationalized to help create Republican majorities because people dind't pay attention to the platforms. That's why Republicans in trouble for failing to keep their elective campaign promises, because we (constituents) didn't pay attention to the platforms.
Hastings may not, though. He has been an outspoken supporter of a guest-worker program that would allow agricultural workers to legally stay in the country temporarily.
That's because there are a lot of illegals living here in Eastern WA and he doesn't have the guts to tell them and their employers to pound sand. And he deserves to lose election. He will anyway, whether in this one or in a few years if the population keeps growing with illegals and transported Cali voters. They hate Republicans, and he's a fool if he believes this stance will change their feelings.
I do find it interesting they cite statistics about how WA voters are apparently okay with all this...then our state platform adopts strict measures? RINO's are actually defeated in the platform? And the guy running against Cantwell is running radio ads against illegal immigration? His own website advocates enforcement first, then guest worker. Which is a stroger stand then the Senate. What does this tell me? That the damn poll is a lie.

I'm kind of shocked this provision won out with our lightweight Republican body here in WA, but it only proves the intensity of feelings on this issue even here. This crosses ideological barriers, Liberals are as outraged as conservatives. It does further buttress Shay's newfound stance on the subject, doesn't it?

Interesting that they credit Andrew Garber with the story, but note that "some information came from David Postman" - so, is Postman a blogger or a reporter - or a reporter dressed in in jammys in his living room?

Actually, Fredi, it's very easy: Get your illegal butts back home. If you want to come back, go through the legal process, just like we have to do to visit or migrate to your country.
