- In a surprise move yesterday, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton called for "most of the country" to return to a speed limit of 55 mph in an effort to slash fuel consumption...
"The 55-mile speed limit really does lower gas usage.
And wherever it can be required, and the people will accept it, we ought to do it," Clinton said at the National Press Club.

Montana - now THERE's a state! A long weekend fly-fishing in a valley so far off the beaten path that our cell phones didn't work was THE best vacation last year! Gorgeous place and great people!

Yeah, right, like that yellow cab I was in last month that hit at least 70 going down Broadway, then slammed on the brakes, then hit 70, then slammed on the brakes. G-r-e-a-t gas conservation by one of her beloved NY constituents.
Traffic laws (and the laws of physics) don't apply to most cabbies.

The difference is president Carter was a fairly moral person so didn't act on his lust for women.Carter tried to hit on bunnies. I've seen pictures....

"how many gallons of fuel she burns in the jet"
This is the same woman who used to fly into Dallas every few months to get her hair done.
We knew when she landed 'cause the LEO's shut down all major freeways in Dallas County until her limo reached its destination and the same for when she departed.

This doesn't save gas...it wastes it. |
But, I won't bother Mrs. Bill Clinton while she tries desperately to revive the glory years of the Carter presidency...

I remember my high school physics teacher explaining how the highway curves were engineered for certain speeds and if you messed with the speed limit, truckers would have to reduce the height of their loads to make the center of gravity appropriate for the curves. Shorter loads would mean less freight shipped per truck and you would need more trucks on the road to carry the same amount of freight. That said, am I remembering that right or not????

And the 'wife' of the guy who flew into San Diego several times a month for his 'liason' with the blonde wife of a well-known local. Common knowledge and the same drill in town as you mention.

I recall it was in January 1974. Nixon resigned later that year.

One of Reagan's lowest moments. What? Reagan did sign legislation in 1986 allowing states to increase their speed limits. It was DemocRATS in the House that kept full repeal of the 55 mph limit from being enacted?
To: Paleo Conservative
Oops wrong law. It was Reagan who allowed Liddy Dole to force the states to raise their drinking ages to 21. 55, 21, numbers confuse me. LOL

Well, I thought it was Carter. I was only in grade school at the time. I may be attributing more to Carter because I just don't remember Nixon. The only thing I remember about him is hearing a broadcast that he was resigning.

Just think of all the revenue we'll get from speeding tickets!
Bingo!!!! best thing for raking in ticket money, add that one to our photo enforcement here in scottsdale.
Its a joke, because the sensors and cameras are stationary everyone drives like hell then slams on the brakes. Very dangerous now, all for more revenue for the damn city.

Someone who flys in a private jet want me to drive 55 MPH?
