WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Ten Guantanamo detainees laid a trap for U.S. guards by luring them into a room with a staged suicide attempt, then attacked them with improvised weapons before being overpowered after an intense fight, U.S. leaders at the detention camp said on Friday.
U.S. officials described the incident on Thursday as probably the most intense outbreak of violence at the jail for foreign terrorism suspects at the U.S. naval base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, since it opened in January 2002.

If memory serves, during the Civil war, prisoners who attacked the guards were tried and executed... I wonder if that law is still in the UCMJ?
To: Abathar
Why can't we just kill the bastards?
Attack the guards = instant death for you
I think prisoners could understand that equation.
If they really want to die, we can accommodate them.
But why do we have to keep feeding and housing the terrorist scum until we (foolishly) decide to release them?????

I'm glad none of our guys were injured, and I hope they got in a few good whacks on the terrorists.

any takers that the DUmmies will be cheering for the inmates within 10 posts? Ten posts? These are the scumbags who march in the streets carrying signs that say, among other things,"we support our troops...when they shoot their officers".
The first post will be in praise of these brave freedom fighters.

I am not a violent person by nature, but I would love to see video of our guys knocking the crap out of these animals.

Ten Guantanamo detainees laid a trap for U.S. guards by luring them into a room with a staged suicide attempt, then attacked them. Sadly, this means that their guards were too young to have seen any old Star Trek episodes, and not one of the Hope/Crosby "Road Movies."

"I'm glad none of our guys were injured, and I hope they got in a few good whacks on the terrorists." I bet the guards that were off duty are green with envy at the guards that got to haul off and smack the crap out of a couple of them... There will be lots of good stories and laughing around the poker tables tonight.

Why can't we just kill the bastards? Because Ted Kennedy and the Rats/RINOs will scream, the U.N. will condemn us, and there'll be protests in the streets from the rent-a-mob leftists.
To: tobyhill
Yep, and I bet they only used the minimum required amount of force to subdue them too. (wink wink, nudge nudge)

Yes, I see this turning into an issue about the conditions there making the inmates want to commit suicide, so we need to get them all shrinks to evaluate it from that perspective.

The proper end to this story would have been:
All ten detainees were shot trying to escape after the attack.

"There will be lots of good stories and laughing around the poker tables tonight." I would hope so, but things have changed in the military these days. The truth is that now they have to worry about being court-martialed for 'abusing' prisoners.
To: Enchante
Why can't we just kill the bastards? Attack the guards = instant death for you. I think prisoners could understand that equation. The prisoners were attempting suicide. Should attempted suicide be a capital offense?
