Immigration Reform...What Say You Now FReepers?
FR | 5-19-06 | Bob J

Be Careful What You Wish For

So, we get 350 miles of fence...the Dems and Immigration proponents everything else. I knew this was going to turn out bad. By elevating the issue of illegal immigration to a crisis level, immigration reform advocates have handed the dems and the immigration lobby the vehicle by which they will really open the floodgates and naturalize 120 million new potential dem voters over the next 20 years.

Ths was never going to work. The House and Senate simply have too many RINO's to effect the kind of change that reformists dreamed of. Anyone who thought it would was blind. Thanks for the effort, but the strategery wasn't thought all the way through.

By bringing the immigration question to the top of the table, they have handed the dems a bat with which to beat us over the head for the next 20 years. Conservative and pub reformists looking for real progress and change will be characterized in the media as meanspirited racists and bigots while the dems nickel and dime the legislation and take the teeth out of any new law. They will be portrayed as the real champions.

Hope you like the fence...it's all we'll get.

Are you saying because some illegals commit crimes that makes it okay to shoot any of them on sight?

Come on...there is no reason to bring up Fat Ted's flatulence problem. We who live here in Massachusetts are choked by the stench every day, but the people who vote for him got used to the smell a long time ago and no longer notice it...:(

This is the problem with conservatives sometimes. They think they can effect change by ranting and threatening politicians. That can work sometimes but long term change will only happen when we change the minds of voters.

Give a pol a hard time, get change for a day. Teach a voter the truth, get change for a lifetime.

I first learned how to fly while in New Mexico. My flight instructor was also a border patrol agent.

When I took my flying lessons with him, we would vector down to the Mexican border. While I was learning how to pilot an airplane, my instructor was looking for illegal aliens sneaking across our border.

When he observed a group of illegals crossing our American border, he would have me circle the location, while he notified other border patrol agents by radio.

This is how I learned to fly with an average altitude of 20 feet AGL. We would sneak up on the illegal aliens, and by the time they could hear the airplane, it was too late.

He also taught me how to fly an airplane with absolute precision, and was the best flight instructor I ever had.

When you are only 20 feet above the ground, you learn how to control your airplane.

Enough with the blame game already.
Enough with the moaning and whining.

"They" ANSWER, ACLU, CAIR, MOVEON, Soros et al... connected up and think they've won themselves some major votes for the next election.

We can sit here and beat each other up, OR we can unite on ONE action...join up with other conservatives....and get IT done.

Step 1
Let's unite and define IT.

As a former jet mechanic in the USN, a pilot wannabe and a general airplane nut, I can appreciate the strength of that training!

I'm saying that their lives are certainly not worth any more than ours and that if we'd been enforcing the broder as we should have been a lot more Americans would still be alive today.

In the mid 90's I was broad sided by an illegal north of Atlanta who decided that red lights didn't apply to him.

As I waited for the paramedics and fire crew to arrive to cut me out of my car he had the nerve to ask me in broken english through the window how I had not seen him pulling into the intersection. Mind you it was a T intersection and the part I was travelling on was the top of the T.

He was cited for failure to yield but vanished into thin air following the accident. Never showed up in court, never paid me a dime of restitution, never spent a day in jail.

Ask me which I would have preferred, him being shot at the border or me being t-boned and the subsequent recovery, medical bills, insurance bills etc.

Ask me if I think I deserved to have what happened to me happen for doing nothing other than driving to work on a beautiful fall morning just because he decided he wasn't going to obey our laws.

My wife and I do not talk, but have always taken action. If our politicians are not doing their job, then they are held personally accountable for their actions.

While in office, they are respected and protected. However, when they eventually return to the status of private citizens, we will be waiting for them.

All we have ever ask from our politicians; is this that they be honest with the people, represent those who elected them, and perform the job to the best of their ability.

Only a defeatist would think the issue is lost and over.

The obvious answer is to pressure the House to reject the Senate Bill. That needs to be the focus now. No bill would be vastly better than what the Senate has passed.

When you talk of millions of additional immigrants, you talk about the not so gradual strangulation of whatever remains of the Old America. We are already over-populated in terms of optimum population levels, as once openly discussed. When you talk of more immigration from the South, you talk of that which the Founding Fathers specifically sought to guard against, even when they were still trying to encourage middle class European settlement, to help settle the Frontier. Jefferson justified the Louisiana Purchase largely on the basis of establishing an Anglo buffer against the Hispanic World.

That no one is Washington even discusses some of these historic questions, tells us how far we have drifted in our sense of identity and purpose. For example, George Washington used the uncrowded, less hurried life style, over here, as a talking point for the desired type of European settlement. Think about that the next time you get tied up in Urban Gridlock, while driving a short distance.

Climb down off the ledge. We have a good chance of torpedoing this entire issue in the House. Those people are under intense pressure from their constituents and it's only going to get worse. I'll take nothing at all over anything resembling what the Senate is proposing.

This all has to go to the reconcillation committee. If Hastert, Sensenbrenner, Sessions, Iasckson & others hold firm there may well be no bill at all.

Presidentes Fox & Bush will be deeply, deeply saddened.

He was cited for failure to yield but vanished into thin air following the accident.

A good friend lost his 12 year old daughter in a pedestrian crosswalk in a similar manner.

It tends to make one more cynical, especially when the vapid plattitudes about 'family values not stopping at the Rio' start to fly.

"the aliens will become Republicans when hell freezes over"
I knew quite a few conservative (even Republican) Mexican-Americans in Kansas, but they were legal.

Cynical isn't the half of it (which I'm sure you know). I cannot even begin to fathom what your friend has had to and continues to endure.

Then you have to deal with how infuruating it is to be called a racist for wanting the borders enforced and the illegals booted.

Why are we letting these criminals stay in our country?

My husband was hit by an uninsured illegal a few years ago.
Last week, an illegal carjacked a mother and daughter and shot them both, killing one. Luckily, he was caught near the border.

These types of incidents are going on around the clock all across the country.

Anyone here who is not facing issues from this invasion in their area right now will find out over the next few years what we are talking about.

I'm not an advocate of shooting on sight, but we need to make life SO unpleasant here that they want to go back. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening.

Look at welfare reform under Clinton.

Let's bring back Clinton, then we will get immigration reform.
