This one defys logic. If "Traders" doesn't have the records, how does the ATF know the guns were purchaced in his store? The dealer keeps the records. They are not forwarded to the ATF. As usual, the ATF is a cancor on Freedom.
I don't think Bush is pro gun. He is a globalist and gun grabbing fits into their agenda. If he was pro gun rights the ATF would not be doing the things they are doing.
The ATF should be disbanded and the agents barred from any position in law enforcement.
I bet the ATF can't account for the billions of tax dollars they have spent!
This store can't account for almost 2 thousand guns. Seems a trifle strange. Are they arming terrorists, street gangs, both?
If the figure of 1767 guns is the total unaccounted for since 1970 that amounts to 49 per year. I have shopped at Traders. It is a major gun dealer in the East Bay and has been for many years (the first time I went there was in the early 60's). I don't know how many guns they sell each year but I would be willing wager that 49 is a very tiny percentage of the total and could quite easily be attributed to "human error". That some of the guns sold by this place wind up used in crimes should be no surprise given the fact that it is one of the few large gun dealers still in business in the area and that they have sold many thousands of guns over the years. A more interesting statistic would be one showing what percentage of the guns sold by Traders have been used in self-defense against criminals.
They have a long reputation as a rogue agency who violate the rules with impunity.
Well the Congress will hold hearings and criticize them as window dressing but nothing really will be done.
And yes, President Bush is also to blame, these things do not happen without approval from above.
Typical govt BS. The govt doesn't enforce anything for years, nobody at the store gets excited about taking care in writing down solid information 'cause no one looks for 30 years--and thus info is sloppy. The govt knows if someone isn't checking, the info collecting becomes relaxed--and uses this fact of human nature to their advantage to try and crush a loyal taxpaying business--a business that PAYS their own freakin' salary.
We need lots more government in our lives!

There are some guns on my books for which I can't account, but not on anywhere near on that scale.
It's also unusual to have that many crime-scene gun traces, too....one in eight? Ours is maybe one in one hundred, or so.
With that number of guns for which they can't account, and the number of traces, I'd say that this 'Trader's' has some serious operational problems. ATF, in my experience, doesn't go on many fishing expeditions....but they WILL try to close down FFLs who demonstrate problems on that scale.

One of the largest gun shops in Kali, the most populous state. These people were likely selling a thousand or more guns a month. To make the 1700 list of over thirty years of sales all that would have to happen is transposed numbers or a miss-spelled name.
Do note that the "hearing" was ATF only and the store owners were not allowed to rebut any of their "findings".
Also remember that the ATF has changed forms many times over this period. A gun on the "wrong" (out of date) form would also make the list.

Now, if they mean "one a day between 2003 and 2005", that can be interpreted as:
1. the 365 days of the year 2004, or @365 guns recovered in a "crime"*
2. the 1095 days spanning 01Jan03 and 31Dec05, or @1095 guns recovered in a "crime"*

About one in every eight guns sold by Traders between 2003 and 2005*(see above) has wound up in a crime, the second highest number of guns traced to crimes of any dealer in the nation, according to the Department of Justice.
*hrmn... something smells off about this... what are they calling "crimes" when tallying up this 1/8 ratio?
Like I have said for a while now, the only difference between the twp parties is how fast we slide into a totalitarian regeime.
Meanwhile 100% of all cars sold by Ford, GM, Toyota, Hyundai, Chevy, etc. has been used in the commission of a crime, vehicular accident & manslaughter, DUI, transporting Illegals and many many other crimes!!
Why isn't there a nationwide outcry banning the sales of these criminal automobiles?
Where is the outcry for the thousands of people harmed directly & indirectly caused by these products since they are clearly used for harm & criminal intent plus being a great threat to the well being of the society in general??
The amount of people killed, maimed and harmed by these notorious 'automobiles' are at least TEN times the amount than those by the smaller 'firearms' industry. But yet it is so "politically correct" to be anti-gun while ignoring the much greater threat & harm posed by using automobiles.
