I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.
Mod Note:
This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.
Jim
When Bush was in Mexico recently and asked Fox to work to decrease his illegal immigrants, Fox's response was the equivalent of screw you and Bush's response to Fox was "thank you".
Am I Patricia or am I Ruth?
There already was a patricia when I first went on the net. So I added ruth to sign up at my first website.
I've tried to keep that consistent everywhere I am logged in.
I hope that isn't too schizophrenic for you. I'm still catching up to the leading posts, and now my honey bunny wants to take his turn on the net, so I'm packing it in for the night.
Is he honey or is he bunny? Or is he also schizo? Inquiring minds want to know...
Great speech by the President.
As i understand President Bush was playing the middle ground, as deporting millions of illegals is not going to be feasible.
Securing the borders along with a tough amnesty plan is a decent outcome, President Bush should be applaued for that.
BOHICA
That is not an answer. That's a dodge.
Nice stats,
but he's not posting the stats of actual enforcement activity, particularly with employers, which on every measure has been in steep decline since he took office.
The numbers hired is smoke to the results achieved which is abysmal and extremely lower than even under Clinton.
You think we'd survive the WOT and avoid future attacks, keep taxes lowered, and MOST importantly .. have a chance to prevent the onslaught of insidious liberalism, same sex marriage, partial birth abortions, or preserving some semblance of American traditional values by having conservative judges appointed if you pout off and vote for Democrats?
We can trust Pubbies not to go radical on us, we can bug and influence them ... what chance would there be with the National Reign of Terror that would be a Democrat majority? Perish the thought! Anyone on this board who professes to be a conservative and utters such blasphemy doesn't belong here.
I'll do you one better. I got tears in my eyes everytime I heard him speak in realtime. What shocked me was when some of the Dem-RATS got tears in their eyes during some of Bubba's speeches. I guess Clinton was THEIR Reagan.
or werent paying attention. Bone up on your history ... it'll be enlightening
Yes, were all cousins.
You do not need to anything about "forged documents".
The IRS knows every tax payment coming from employers that is coming from an illgeally obtained erroneous social security card. They just pocket the money - but they know that social security did not issue the number.
One 800 number, employer punches in the prospective employee's social security number - rejected - end of story, employer has a choice - let that bogus social security number reveal he's knowinging breaking the law, or not hire the illegal.
Not that complicated, because most illegals simply obtain phony social security cards and driver's licenses; and they cannot manufacture phony birth places that a valid social security application process can check.
Illegal immigration hurts everyone at the bottom of the skills and education ladder.
They displace teens and college students.
They displace legal immigrants and citizens who have only a high school diploma or less.
They displace one or more of the spouses of legal first-generation immigrants who must usually take second, part-time low-skilled jobs to make ends meet in their early years here.
In every case, and in the industries where teens, college students, first-generation immigrants and those without a high-school diploma traditionally could find work; it is a declining possibility for them.
During the entire history of both Spanish and Mexican "claims" to California (1) the majority of people in California was not Mexicans but members of native north-American tribes, (2)the land held under active jurisdiction and active administration by either Mexico or Spain was a small % of the land "claimed", (3)both Spain and Mexico refused their own obligations to affectively administer California, left most administration to the Church and by the time of California's independence had been financially letting even the Church infrstructure in California to decline.
When California declared its independence from Mexico, persons of Mexican or Spanish decent comprised less than 50% of the people in California and the first independent Governor of California was a man of mixed African-American and native Californian ancestry.
The Mexican claims to most of the southwest always were predominately at most the crown or the state making a claim, not excercizing it in a major, comprehensive, consistent, productive way.
Sixty % of those sitting in the San Diego county jail for regular, non-immigration related crimes, are illegal immigrants.
You need to undertand what the actual substance of the "comprehensive" bill will do:

if we go forward with this sham "reform", what's the difference,

Do you not realize that the greed of empoyers will continue to increase the quotas for any "guest worker" program, until the totals are massive?
Do you know any countries that are on the sending or receiving end of massive guest worker programs?
I do - the Phillipines (massive guest worker exporter), Saudi Arabia, UAE, Dubai (massive guest worker importers), all socially and politically dysfunctional societies - large groups of "stateless" workers who have nearly no permanent social connections in their "home" country and no political rights in the nation they spend most of their time in.
Its a time bomb inside a trojan horse.
