I searched but did not see a thread already open for tonights speech. I think this is the most important speech the President will probably make for the remainder of his term.
Mod Note:
This could turn into a whack-a-troll thread. All immigration trolls that would like to participate should post here. It'll be interesting to see if we mods can whack the trolls faster than they can sign up new accounts.
Jim
The borders are NOT being closed.
They are NOT all Christians.
And the numbers extimated are far more than a few million, unless you define 11 million at least and upwards of 50 million a little.
Great point! Better make sure I double bolt my virtual locks to feel extra safe!
I personally sent him an Email telling him exactly that - after his speech, the RINOs in the Senate will try to ram their "comprehensive" bill down our throats and his numbers and the GOP Congressional numbers will all start tanking in the polls.
I suggested he cancel the speech, leave Washington D.C., leave all his advisors in D.C. and come out and talk to some of us. He has a bunch of yes men who will not point out the rational, reasonable errors in how he wants to act with "compassion".
He ignores the consequences in the actions he is (and others are) willing to take to satisfy his (their) good intentions.
Yet Reagan did not veto it.
It was gutted by Kennedy after it was law it was a compromise "comprehensive plan, stick & carrot...funding for enforcement was cut later..just like they can do now...thats why we need enforcement first...fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me..bsically what tancredo said tonight
LOL yeah they are real prizes. Fluoridation anyone? How abiut their tirade about Ronald Reagan. Were they accurate there?
Yes, there's a list of publications that have to be excerpted, but VDARE, Lew Rockwell, Stormfront etc. are not permitted here.
I was repeating what WAMPUS said; not that the truth ever botheres Spiff.
I never mentioned Nazis; that's what Spiff SAID I said in his pathetic desperation to "be" somebody.
Thanks!
I'll be waiting for my apology...........NOT!
"I wonder why?"
Shivering in fear, due to your "research," by your own reckoning.
"If this speach wasn't good enough for some and they can't even say it's a good start, then frankly, they're impossible to please people who have no clue how our system works. You can't change something that big over night, you have to make a gradual course correction over the course of years. It took decades to get this screwed up, it will likely take decades to fix. That's a fact of life and all this b******g and moaning about it doesn't change that reality."
I don't want to argue with you, because I don't really care if the border is closed or not. But if I were representing the BorderBots, I'd say this:
Hooey.
Israel built a wall in two years that stopped a guerilla war against it.
The President could have ordered that construction begun NOW, even without Congress. But he didn't propose a wall, or a continuous fence. He proposed nebulous "high tech" fence.
That's not what the BorderBots said they wanted. And it sounds both a lot more expensive and a lot less effective than what they said they wanted.
So, WHY didn't the President just GIVE THEM WHAT THEY WANTED? Even his disguised amnesty program (guest worker) probably would have been more palatable (though still not palatable) if he had just flat given them their simple Israeli wall at the border.
So, why DIDN'T he?
I think that it is because business interests do not want that border closed. So Bush knew he had to throw out a lot of proposals that sounded effective, but which, in the end, would not block that flow...and at very worst would be rejected by Congress and leave the status quo.
So he did.
Now, if I were a Border Conservative, I would be walking out the door right now, because it's transparent. There was not one good reason not to give them the wall, unless you don't really want that border closed.
Tell me how you feel

Don't sweat it. I've been here six years and I've never heard of it.
---By contrast there are almost 40,000 officers in the NYPD alone.
And NYC is as safe as the Vatican.---
Your point is...?
Right you are. Some folks are saying we are remembering the wrong show, but I think Andy Devine and the others were copying Froggies's original schtick later in the '50s TV era.
My 69 year old memory card may not be what it once was, but I distinctly remember many Saturday mornings spent lying on the floor of my pal Eddie's front porch in Newark NY eating purple Concord grapes from his dad's backyard arbor and listening to Froggie the Gremlin on the Buster Brown Kids radio program. Also Grand Central Station, Jack Armstrong the All American Boy, Plastic Man, and a few others whose names have slipped my mind.
That was simple, classic Americana of that day and time, and life was good for this 4th grader and his pals on Saturday mornings.
I really don't want to see the dems take either house, but it's really going to come down to whether or not each individual looks at their candiate and wants to support them wholly (or partially). It's really a difficult decesion, especially in our 'trying times'.
I'm not sure what will happen.
Yes except Reagan signed into law an immediate path to green card/citizenship.
What part of that don't you understand?
Peter King or Tancredo said that the house passes an immigration bill every year but the senate doesn't do anything with it. Write, call, fax your senators.
